Kovalev is boxing on the backfoot, lathering up combos off the jab or just tossing lead hooks as he pivots around Mann. They both land in an exchange, an uppercut for Mann and shovel hook for Kovalev. Jab feints by Kovalev. Mann pressing behind goalposts. Mann falling short with his jab. Kovalev sets a trap, almost backing himself onto the ropes and then leaping at Mann with a flurry. Lead right by Mann, blocked. Kovalev shoves out with both arms to knock Mann back a few paces and buy himself room to stay off the ropes. Shoeshine into the forearms by Kovalev. A left hook is partially turned over by Kovalev when Mann gets his arm in the way. HARD LEFT HOOK BY KOVALEV FINDS THE MARK! DOWN GOES MANN!!! VERY WOBBLY! KOVALEV FOR THE FINISH! STRAIGHTS AND HOOKS WITH BOTH HANDS! Mann covering up but still hurt. Will he survive the round??? Yes, barely. Down again moments before the bell but the ref rules a slip.
