Happy Easter to you. I did a late night run to the supermarket yesterday, scouring for big discounts - plenty of Easter stock left but no markdowns. Cheapskates.

Supposedly people in the Samart camp claimed he didn't even really train hard and when people in Thailand got wind of it they became very angry especially people who bet on him.
Make no mistake Samart had natural skills and he was very quick and fluid.
I think Samart exiled himself to live with the monks because of how angry many people were that he didnt train hard for Fenech.

He was an obvious phenom even after a handful of fights, but he never 100% committed himself to a boxing career & returned to muay thai after the Fenech loss. some years later, he returned to boxing for a title shot up @ fw, but by that time was just a shell of what he had once been.

idk much about muay thai, but my understanding is that he's considered 1 of the GOATs in that sport.

Who knows? But I knew one guy who used to argue that the results would have been no different even if the fight allowed kicks, knees, and elbows, because "martial arts adds nothing to a fighter's arsenal that boxing doesn't."

Boy, the respectability of the other combat sports have come a long way among Western boxing fans in the intervening two decades...

no. He was in his prime for Fenech. Even if he trained his a@@ off he would have been overpowered and run over. The guy caught Lupe Pintor at the right time.
