No disrespect to Dalton I’m sure he’s a decent fella, but I always enjoy seeing the ‘football’ boxers and their loutish supporters being beaten. The football chanting at boxing is so out of place and cringe, I mean it’s cringe at football as well but even worse at boxing events. Hope Puello beats him, he’s a tricky fighter. No doubt it will be done in a car park in Sheffield somewhere, and Dalton wins a SD.

I missed the fight so put it on in replay, and had to turn it off after 5 rounds it was ridiculous. Opponent 3 weight classes smaller at least, no power, running around the ring. Can’t believe it went 12 that’s poor.

Dalton smith and Sam Noakes irritate the hell out of me both as bad as each other for fighting overmatched opposition fooking fight someone or people are going to lose interest.
Worst thing is the commentary teams claim they are world class how do they come to that conclusion when they repeatedly fight poor opposition?

    Yup,

Looks like it was the weight cut; his face looked incredibly drained during the press conference, but then he looked good on the scales.

Good entertaining fight too, how do you see the fight with Conlan going if it's made?

Adam Smith simply promotes the promoter narrative.

Listen to his first 2 rounds of commentary and you get the lowdown on everything about the fighters but very little about the action in the ring.

    Awful.

Dalton Smith really won't and hasn't improved by fighting opponents happy to survive, levels below and being able to coast rounds, he got a 12 round TV spar a workout win nothing more.

Hes 28, been 6 years as a pro, Germain is an opponent he could of faced and beat just as easily 3 years ago.

    A learn nothing fight.

He’s trying that angle but my mates who are Wednesday fans didn’t even know he was fighting yesterday.

This is exactly my issue with him.
I’m just happy he’s off the darts comms.

What the football boxers never seem to realise is that they get a decent following at the start but it rarely gets any bigger because nobody except their team's supporters will watch them.

And in a 2 team city, by making your allegiances to one known you immediately wipe out half of your potential fanbase.

Not necessarily though. I know some pig fans ( Sheff Utd for those that have no clue what I mean) who have watched Dalton. Just like Wednesday fans followed Kell Brook ( including myself who went to his very first professional fight)
Now granted Brook isn’t a die hard Pig fan by any stretch.

I think most of them fake the football support just to gain ticket sales and publicity. Once you get attached to a football club you do limit your marketability though, I detest football so it makes me want to see them lose. The same coked up nob heads that are supporting these boxers at events are the same coked up nob heads you see at the darts now. Jumping on anything that’s popular.

The boxing/football angle it really alienates a lot of the people going purely as boxing fans.

Sadly the hardcore boxing fan going has dwindled anyway, lots going simply to snort and get pissed up.

Warrington in his pomp, had a huge Leeds following, still has a good support obviously but for a lot of people it got moronic to listen to Leeds songs being chanted all show and that was just the TV viewers like myself. Nathan Heaney has certainly also done the same at a lower level selling well to Stoke fans but he was never going to be a world beater, so for him it's served him well.

I dont go to shows anymore one reason is the 'sweet caroline' type of casual fan most have limited knowledge and its very similar type behaviour to even the worst boxing/football types.

It’s very difficult to be someone very informed about the sport, only to have to listen to people around you state the most ridiculous crap so confidently. As is the issue with most things in this world.

How can those responsible at DAZN accept a boxing event of such poor quality ?

That's the big problem with Dalton Smith. Take a look at Dalton Smith in his 7th and 8th fight. He's making the exact same mistakes today that he made a couple of years ago. He hasn't improved and that's concerning.

Does he need a new coach ? What happens the day Dalton Smith faces an opponent of his own size ?
