There really isn’t an argument I could believe that Liston could beat Tyson… it all usually comes down to pseudo amateur, psychologist, poetic BS we see here about standing up to bullies blah blah blah LOL both of there most famous moments were quitting, both guys were known to do the heralded by viewers for the oh so important “stare down” of which no pro surely takes seriously… can’t remember who it was that said it but against Hearns, Hearns was giving him a hard look and he thought to himself “What’s he going to do hit me?” anyone who watches boxing for boxing can see Tyson is a fair margin bigger, 2x as fast, just as if not more powerful (100% more proven power) and visually very, very obviously better he absolutely shreds Liston to a 1000 pieces… stylistically Sonny is made to order… smaller, physically weaker, slow and jab reliant with a so-so inside game whilst not being overly durable or hard to hurt… I think Tyson would overwhelm Liston early, MT was so dynamic, he’d catch him with something he wouldn’t see fast it’d rock him and he’d light him up at the first sign of wobbly legs, on the way in he’d keep hurting Liston there would be no inside fighting he’ll oblige the clinch, regardless Mike was strong enough to make it happen.

Literally only the part about Listons hitting harder and having a better jab is true here but that should be obvious.

:borra2: Oh brother here it comes “Uh… Patterson?” Or will we bring up that same story about knocking the teeth out of a 2nd rater for some reason.

wasn't that blown up CW also better than Leotis Martin? Bigger, stronger, faster, more athletic and technically advanced?

Evander Holyfield was as much a blown up cruiserweight as Gerald McCellan was a blown up 160lber lol.

To be fair, in that case, you have to put Tyson into that era. Sonny would have never seen anything like it. A black guy heavier than him, faster, explosive. Mike will have seen plenty of 6'1", 210lbs black guys. Without Sonny's legend, would he have really scared Mike?

Sonny, more than Mike, is stepping into the slightly unknown here.

yes, that Mac had to be better than Holmes, Berbick and Spinks. He hit harder than Ruddock and Bruno. If he had started his career in the 80s, Ireland would have certainly had the youngest world champion, Kid Dynamite Home Alone McBride
