To be fair, spamming right hands worked for Hrgovic. At least in the sense that most of the right hands landed.

Apparently, Andy Ruiz has forgotten that Anthony Joshua not only outboxed Ruiz in their rematch, but practically pitched a shutout against him.

Maybe Ruiz was in a food coma at the time and it totally slipped his mind, but Ruiz barely won a round in the return match.

Ruiz saying Joshua can't box is like Floyd Patterson saying Ingemar Johansson had no power, after getting floored nine times in their fights.

If Joshua can't box, Andy, why was he outboxing you for the better half an hour?

Lol didnt he practically shut Ruiz out in the rematch?

Anyway, hes hardly Larry Holmes or even a level below that, skills wise, but he can box a bit. Hes very workmanlike though rather than a natural slick smooth type of fighter.

    Of course he is.

A lot of heavyweights are limited in skill but Joshuas weak jab and limitied head/upper body movement are problems

Yes, but you could say that about any boxer throughout the whole history of boxing. Everyone has flaws to their game. Usyk, Canelo, Mayweather, SRR, Duran, Ali, etc. all have/had flaws + weaknesses && strengths. If everyone is flawed then everyone has a lacking of something in boxing.

But, yeah, AJ does have weaknesses in his boxing skills. Lack of fleet footedness, lack of head movement, lack of variety with his jab, defensively porous (keeping hands low, unguarded & untucked chin, etc.), lack of holding/clinching, average on the outside and terrible on the inside (though good in medium range), too much weight & bulk, low volume, passive 2nd mover, relied on power that while was above average just wasn't freakish, low punch resistance, low recovery skills, etc.

Tbf to AJ, he provided Usyk with one of his most competitive fights. He beat some good fighters along the way, lost a few times. He shouldn't have left Roberto Garcia IMHO. I thought he had made adjustments after being with him after a short period of time and a lot of it was good. He got cocky against Ruiz, came up short against Usyk, and got sh**ged by DD.

But, at the end of the day he had a decent career (rose to the top of both the pros and the ams), provided entertainment, made some coin, enjoy retirement, champ.

What does it say about him then when Joshua damn near shut him out over 12 rounds in the rematch?

Ajs skillset is arguably better than Andy ruiz.

In the rematch AJ wasn't interested in getting in a tear up, he made it a technical fight on the back foot and won every round very comfortably.

AJ lacks the instincts and natural ringmanship but technically he is better than ruiz, throws better combos, better feet etc. ruiz has more heart, more dawg and doesn't panic under adversity.

AJ is a fraud. He has been exposed repeatedly, and he will fight just once this year, as he so often does. Pretending that he is a top-10 HW is laughable. His record is littered with has-beens who are 39-42 years old, with absolutely nobodies like some can named "Jermaine Franklin", an MMA fighter, and assorted trash boxers. Eddie Hearn has been protecting him and cherry-picking awful opponents for him for years.

I wouldn't say he's unskilled, but he's not particularly skilled for the level either.

At elite level he's a mediocre technician with excellent physical attributes. He can be made to look very awkward at worst because he can't improvise, he's well coached enough to do the basics well, but struggles when that isn't enough against high quality opponents who aren't overwhelmed early-on.

He's always been very overrated overall by the boxing media and general public. He has been very well promoted as the "Rising star, hometown, good boy" when in fact he was never that good (gifted Olympic gold), publicly associates more with Africa than the UK, and has a criminal history. All this combined is why he is so vehemently disliked on this forum and why there's a new thread every day bashing him.

    (And that's a good thing)

    Well noticed.

Highly unlikely. It looks more likely to be a subtle troll.

The actually meaning of the post is:
"Am I correct when I say that Anthony Joshua lacks boxing skills?"

Well, there are some things to consider there:
This would just be a new thread bashing Joshua, so it gets boring, resulting in a lack of engagement.
The wording is deliberately extreme. It's not "Joshua has a lack of skills" meaning he doesn't have enough to say compete at the highest level (fair point). It's been written "Joshua lacks skills" with is a far stronger critique of what is a two-time unified champion and who did well in the amateur system. Some might say a ridiculous critique to make by a random poster on a boxing forum.
So why include Ruiz? Well including the guy who beat him, and who was considered a good amateur himself, adds some form a legitimacy to what on the surface is a ridiculous statement.
The final key thing about including Ruiz, is who gets the blow back for the ridiculous statement? Well, it's Ruiz.
Ruiz saying it about a guy who boxed a shutout against him in the rematch sounds daft, so imagine if this was just you or me saying it

Of course, maybe Ruiz did say this. Maybe
or maybe it's just an alt account

Either way, it got the peanut gallery frothing at the mouth again

Yeah I find it a bit silly a boxer is discrediting another boxers skills when they virtually lost 12-0 to them in a fight.

    A bit of a oxymoron don't you think ?

I think Joshua's skills are fine for his size it's his sometimes weak mentality and poor recovery skills that let him down.

Thanks for the dissertation on a one line troll post. Some profound insights you've made.

Deontay Wilder won Olympic bronze at Heavyweight, which is an undeniably strong amateur achievement. Would Andy Ruiz be correct to say that Deontay Wilder lacks boxing skills?

I dont think so because he won olympic medals. You need boxing skills for that.
