Leo Atang signs with Matchroom

    So the world under 19 super heavyweight champion has signed with Matchroom, Leo Atang has turned over at 18, very young and has some filling out to do but he is a very good prospect and a desperately needed addition to Eddie's stable.

    What do we reckon to him?

    Heard a bit of hype around him, he's fast and loose, looks athletic and like he might have some power but he hasn't fought at senior elite level yet and despite his accolade, I'm not convinced he's the best u18 in the world with him not having fought Adam Olaniyan, however certainly another bright prospect for the domestic heavyweight scene.

    Come back to me in 15 fights. Every signing Matchroom make from the amateurs is ‘the next star of British boxing’. Last year it was Cameron Vuong, a few months ago it was Pat Brown…

    Matchroom has not been particularly good at developing new young talents in the right way and making sure they got the right opponents at the right time. I think there have been several examples of boxers being matched incorrectly.

    What happened to "the new David Haye" Jordan Thompson ?

    I'm more excited that John Joe Carrigan is turning pro as well, he's signed with the manager Shelly Finkel. Wonder what promoter will sign him.

    Carrigan is a phenom, he won everything and I don't even think he's lost a fight.

    This British forum subsection really is becoming like an Anti Matchroom cult

    It's the 'in' thing to criticise Eddie Hearn/Matchroom/DAZN with this cliquey cult of the likes of ash234,bfcad, Beale, Astro (and others).

    Saying anything positive about Hearn/Matchroom and their fighters doesn't go down well in here, negativity only.

    It's not a good thing - you shouldn't really be following boxing on who a boxer is promoted by, and who's promoting the show.

    Yeah Matchroom get stick on here, j don't agree with all of it myself but people have opinions

    You ain't gonna change mindsets by copy and pasting other people's post history etc
