From any era? Mike Tyson would have destroyed him and Usyk would have toyed with Young.

 

Usyk would beat him without too much difficulty once he figures him out in the first few rounds and finds a home for his left straight

 

Zaire Foreman. Doesn't care about stamina and believes in himself. 1977 Foreman was too cautious and it allowed Jimmy to work. The Foreman of 74 kept going long enough to hurt Jimmy and would have gone for the kill once he had.

George almost had three careers. One: 69-Zaire; Two: 75-first retirement in 77; then Three: 87 onwards with Old George. Career two - post Zaire - was the weakest version of him imo. Psychologically frazzled and tactically confused. The pre-Zaire George had the mental strength and physical tools to give Jimmy hell, not vice versa.

 

Nobody. Plenty of guys could beat him, none would look good doing it. He was like the #1 ATG spoiler.

 

Tyson, Frazier, would beat him up and win convincingly ATG pressure/swarmer types who could close the distance down on Young and not give him time or space would be a horrible match up for Young who doesn't have the size or power to keep them off him.

 

Tyson would do what he does and cut Young to ribbons there is close to 0 chance Jimmy survives past 5-6 he’d have nothing to stop the bull rush charge at the start of every round but he was durable… with Tyson he ran his engine HOT right out of the gates and set himself to cruise control the rest of the way after about 8… Tyson was like an F1 he had to be steered carefully even a minor mistake at the wheel could be costly, his head was right there in front of his guy and he didn’t know how to walk a fight backwards, his only solution was clinching… his entire game was “I’m going to get to you, I was built to slip your jab, I’m going to light you up form 6 different angles at warp speed once you’re in range” Jimmy will oblige him by being a guy who only really fought really close or far out he couldn’t pull off a Douglas or a Holyfield he had none of what made them work he’d be a negative jabber who’d let Tyson clinch him after tearing him up over and over… it’d be a one sided beating and if it lasted 12 somehow Young would look ghoulish, car crash victim like.

 

Yep this is pretty much the mindset of every GF super fan lol no offence intended but do we ever not see this with George? “Oh this doesn’t count, this does in a way but especially not that” it was a span from 74-77 that’s his prime a couple tactical blunders did him in, it happens no one excuses any other “ATG” this same way by saying that 3 years during there prime was a second career right after there only win over a “great”? It’s comforting I suppose to excuse the losses and near losses?

 

Tyson would **** him up.

 

My man Max Schmelling would put an early stop to Young's cute antics, who would be badly outboxed and outpunched.

 

Guys like Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson seem like they’d be his biggest problem. Crazy as it sounds I think even Bert cooper for stylistic reasons could give him issues

 

Schmeling or Ezzard Charles,maybe Archie Moore too.

 

Prime: Jack Dempsey, Rocky Marciano, Floyd Patterson, Joe Frazier, and Mike Tyson would have been stylistic nightmares for Jimmy Young. Prime John L. Sullivan might have been, too; we are just not sure about him.
