The real bad thing is the morning check weight imo. Should have enough time to recover from todays weight cut if he could get on with rehydrating properly. He probably needs to put on 15 or 20 lbs on top of the 160 hes at. 170 tomorrow morning. 175/180 tomorrow night. Its the time being depleted without getting to that 175/180 number that could end up costing him.
I also have 3 kids and know exactly what you are saying. If one of my kids was a little runt like Conor I would still back them to the hilt. But along with Eddie Hearn and Frank Smith, Nigel has been pissing me off a lot in the build up.
Am I correct in saying after the Saturday morning 170lb weigh in, Eubank can bulk as much as he wants? Granted it’s far from ideal, but you’re talking about an overrated 147lber who’s not been able to flick the dust off a carpet in his last two fights. Just got to hope Eubank isn’t complete drained. Boxing wins, when Eubank watches Benn go Hail Mary for the first three rounds, and then absolutely poleaxes him in round 4.
Agreed. Stuff the rehydration clause - he's been fined once, has probably got a small fortune in the bank to pay off a second one. Rehydrate to the point he feels comfortable, forget the scales. A focused, fit and properly rehydrated Eubank will be too skillfull and powerful for Benn - he will look like the clueless idiot he really is.
You prefer the personality of a low intelligence classless moron over a person that goes beneath surface level and has brain cells?
Because the theory is not reality. In theory, Eubank had all the cards. Benn is a domestic level midget, who's not fought for over a year, fighting 2 divisions above his natural weight, against a "world class" middleweight, who, has had no problems making weight before that we knew of. Until the weigh in, I thought Eubank would walk this. They probably did to and thought an 18ft ring would make no difference.
This is spot on. Eubank Jr has idiots around him who cannot even tell him certain weight clauses are dangerous. At the very least, push back on it Maybe they did. We don't know but looking in from the outside, his team are weak and Eubank is an idiot for agreeing to all these weight penalties. Also looks like Robert Smith of the bbbofc is extra pally with Matchroom/Benn team. Wouldn't even discuss any issue with that match fixer. Seems odd he was very dismissive towards Eubank's team.
funny how not many thought this would happen untill the weigh in, it was obvious hearn wouldnt let a near healthy eubank fight benn. They wanted him like smith 1 from the start
I still don’t like anything I’ve seen from Eubank or his team over the last few weeks all the way up to the ceremonial weigh in. Not sure what the odds are but I wouldn’t begrudge anyone going for Benn in two, and I really hate to say that.
Eddie Hearn, Frank Smith and Matchroom in general have plummeted reputationally for me with regard to all their shenanigans, the level of fines has been out of all proportion to the offence, the rehydration clause, ring size, BJS checking the hand wraps etc. etc. How the eff a twice failed drug cheat is calling all the shots and getting all the benefits and biases leaves a real bad taste in the mouth and I wouldn't be surprised if CEJ loses by a Howard Fosteresque British stoppage at the first sign of trouble and a riot kicks off! I'm team Eubank all the way as a Benn win would be very bad for boxing.
