...should ask for a fight on the undercard, and be ready to fill in if Dubois gets "sick" again. One of the things that came out in the aftermath the Dubois-Parker debacle is that Dubois always has some sort of attack before every fight, and I infer that it is probably nerve related. He may very well have had some sort of minor illness in his ear, and it was the combination took him out. Bottom line, Parker would do well to be ready to go. This should not be difficult, as Warren is involved with both of them. As for opponent, Parker should be taking the best available as if he is already IBF champion. His record is good enough that he is knocking on the door of a real legacy, with or without another title. Sign to fight Hrgovic in the undercard. He will win and just add to his legacy.
This makes sense. Either Parker fights on undercard of big card or gets a shot at Usyk. Win win for Parker.
Instead he will probably sit on his ass until he gets a scheduled shot in two years. It is one of the things that is killing boxing.
Hope not. If neither is getting a title shot, the fight that makes sense is Parker vs Kabayel. Both are warriors. Why wouldn't they want the fight? I'd buy that PPV. Both deserve title shots. Parker is on fire. Kabayel just proved he's the ballsiest MF'er in the division and one tough SOB. If Usyk gets stripped of a belt for whatever reason, dear god the two of them should be given the opportunity to fight for it. edit: can I just mention again how much Kabayel impressed me last outing? I rewatched it earlier. Think about it. He knew he was going up against the biggest puncher in the division, who had zero stamina. I'm no boxing coach, but I would think the proper plan for that fight would be to tire Zhang out while avoiding danger for 3-4 rounds, then move in. Instead, Kabayel's plan was "i'm gonna walk right up to this big MF'er and beat his ass toe to toe". And he literally did that. Even crazier than what Holyfield did to Tyson, because there Holyfield did tie Tyson up when he didn't like what was happening; Kabayel just kept thudding away, even right after getting knocked down. God damn. Teutonic balls of steel.
Unfair to Parker, who certainly won't sit on his ass and wait, he will fight, and certainly against a bigger name...
This is spot on and something that is going quietly unnoticed. If he adds another big name scalp, then he will probably achieve the best run of victories of this era outside of Usyk. He is the clean up guy of the rankings right now which is why - from a fans perspective not necessarily a business one- Kabayel makes sense.
