Layne had better wins but also a lot of losses. Mathis was a much bigger man but also often out of shape. I guess it’s one of those take your pick type fights.
Mathis genuinely could be a dog, i think he should take a decision unless Layne gets a good knockdown early. Layne was undefeated until Marciano broke him
Actually he had a loss to Dave Whitlock before the Rocky fight . But yes it was a very impressive run prior to getting wrecked by Marciano
