I personally thought Jim wasn't that good on Friday. It was nice to hear him, but you could also hear his age and the "commentary rust".
Fair enough. All things considered, I thought he was solid. Especially since he did not have a whole lot to work with. Too bad there were no fights on par with Eubank Jr vs Benn. At the end of the day, from what I heard, I would still personally prefer Lampley over anyone out there today, as I favor his old school overall mood and demeanor compared with most current commentators.
Was this a one time thing? I shocked DAZN hasn't hired him full time. He brings a lot to the table and DAZN could certainly improve their production quality its nowhere close to what HBO or even Showtime was.
It was mildly amusing nostalgia that made a terrible set of match ups a bit more interesting. I enjoyed it even if I dont want to hear him every weekend. Compared to Mannix its like listening to an all knowing oracle
DAZN should hire Lampley and, if he was amenable to it, pay him more money and have him start training some of their other announcers
Nah, I think it was over protected hype jobs who got exposed.. Turki dangled the carrot in front of them and they ended up choking on it; Garcia, Haney and even Canelo looked clueless in there walking around flat footed unable to set traps. All of the above are supposed to be "P4P" fighters too.....shameful.
Aside from him salivating over Romeros body and him forgetting fighters names during the broadcast it was nice hearing his voice again during a boxing event.
Just hearing his voice in the commentary box evokes so many memories. Even if he is not in top form I'm grateful to have him on the mic, it makes the event so much more enjoyable. Saying that it didn't matter who was commentating that card, nobody could save or add to that **** show.
