Teddy is obviously a solid student of boxing history. He has some interesting insights and loads of passion, sometimes pushing toward madness hahaha. It's a good watch. I won't spoil any surprises right up front.

    48 minutes?

Can't you summarize it for us real quick so we can jump right into calling Teddy Atlas and idiot and a parasite?

    Here is Teddy's list:

    1. Joe Louis
    2. Muhammad Ali
    3. Jack Johnson
    4. Rocky Marciano
    5. George Foreman
    6. Open spot - he is implying he will give it to Usyk once Usyk retires but he is leaving it open.

    7. Gene Tunney
    8. Jack Dempsey
    9. Larry Holmes
    10. Lennox Lewis

I am not sitting through a 48 minute Teddy video. Too much yelling and rambling. But he is interesting to listen to in small doses. I am subscribed to his youtube channel but i only listen to it in short doses.

Interesting list. I don't have a major problem with it even though my list is drastically different.

I don't quite understand the criteria. How can Teddy judge Jack Johnson's skills with the poor quality of film available?

Tunney had less than 10 fights at heavyweight and only 2 vs an elite opponent (Dempsey), who was past his prime. I think Tunney is great at 175 lbs but he doesn't have enough fights at heavyweight to merit that.

Marciano at #4 and Frazier not in the top 10 is also puzzling since they were similar in ability. If Marciano had 5 fights vs Ali and Foreman, there is a good chance he would go 1-4 like Frazier did.

It seems like Teddy ranks historical importance as an important criteria which partially explains Johnson, Tunney and Dempsey.

I don't have a major issue with it since part of why lists are interesting is because everyone has a different opinion. So while my list will be drastically different, i completely get that different people have different ideas. And i am happy as long as people remain passionate about boxing history regardless of how different their list is from mine.

Tunney was 19-0 in fights contested over 180lbs and, iirc, won 6 fights vs top 10 ranked HWs. I agree he has no place in an all time top 10 HW list.

speaking of boxing historians, i would love to see Monte Cox's updated list. Monte was a good poster and an excellent writer. Its a pity that saga with Revolver annoyed Monte to the point that he stopped posting and doesn't seem to have resumed since.

Liston wasn't on there. Lewis was #10 and he's leaving #6 blank, for Usyk to fit in the 10 somewhere when he finishes it seems.

He did say he rates historical importance and raved about Dempsey/Tunney historically as well as Johnson.

He has Greb the #1 middleweight so film isn't a killer. He raved about his resume.

He also doesn't hold it against guys if their era was full of 180 pound fighters.

Oh i see. I got the list from 47 minutes and 38 seconds in the video so i thought he had Liston in there.

Yes if you are looking at historical significance, i can totally see Johnson and Dempsey so high.
