What are examples of fights where both guys went hard, high output, for the first 15 rounds and beyond without taking the foot off the gas?
Norton Holmes Though i think its pretty impossible to maintain a super high output for 15 rounds without taking at least some breaks.
Highest output fight I've ever seen. Ridiculous exchanges, but it's just 15 rounds not more but I suspect this might be the most active two fighters have ever been. This content is protected
Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran went hammer and tong for the better part of 15 rounds with Duran taking the foot of the gas a bit in the last few rounds or so, believing he had done enough to take the decision. You say 15 + rounds - so that’s going way further back in time - given 20 - 25 rd limits and even more that. Given such limits, I can’t imagine the combatants going balls to the wall in the first 15 rounds with the possibility of so many more rounds ahead of them. I guess the first Jeffries - Corbett fight saw Corbett constantly boxing and moving for maybe 15 + rounds to score points and stay out of harm’s way. Of course that effort later bit Corbett in the arse around the 20 + round mark when he slowed down and Jeffries eventually caught up with him in round 23 for the KO.
Leonard vs Benitez was a fast paced chess match for 15rds. But if were just talking brawling , Bobby Chacon vs Bazooka Limon, Qawi vs Holyfield #1 Spinks vs Qawi Ali vs Frazier FOTC Some off the top of my head.
It was 12 not 15 but maybe they had the gas to go another 3 - but the output in Tua vs Ibeabuchi was insane. Balls to the wall, take no prisoners. The output was so insane that IF it was scheduled for 15 and both men pulled back a bit in deference to the extra 3 rounds, they could’ve done so (plenty of wiggle room) and the maintained action would still have been deemed to be extraordinary - and especially so for two big, hard punching HWs.
