This is a 100% rational take. He is interesting but Teddy is subscribed to drawing in casuals with all that yelling. This is a pity for the rest of us.

What does it matter who's era is or isn't, Holyfield still fought the better opposition and has BEATEN better opposition than Usyk.

That and Tunney and Dempsey is the worst of it. Actually, given he puts solid emphasis on historical significance Dempsey is defendable.

And he got beat by John Ruiz. And he got beat by the otherwise unimpressive Riddick Bowe and Mike Moorer.

I will not go onto those who beat him after Ruiz as Usyk hasn't reached that age yet.

Usyk is 18 fights behind that. Holyfield had 41 fights behind him at that point, 23 at heavyweight. Usyk has 23 total with just 7 in the open division. It'll take Usyk another decade or more to reach 41.

Age is just one piece of the puzzle and obviously slanted toward Usyk. The argument between classists and modernists moving forward will be Usyk's quality of work vs Holyfields volume. If Usyks get rolled in the next fight or two he will come back noticeably.

So you have Foreman at 5 or 6 depending on the day, yet think Atlas rating him at number 5 is too high?

Yet Tunney still makes the Top Ten.

In all transparency I already put my bet on Dubois for the next fight, which when I am proven correct, and after I've frivolously wasted my earnings will make this argument somewhat muted, as you noted.

Yeah Tunney stands out like a sore thumb. He's there for Atlas because he beat Dempsey, basically. There was plenty of context why he beat him but it's famous. Dempsey's standing as a heavyweight wallops Tunney's and Dempsey has certainly got his own set of resume holes.

Dubois sure has his fans for the rematch, it's certainly got me interested. I'm concerned the win over Joshua might not be all that but time will tell.

Every list is just a opinion so I can't really be fussed about it.

    Ewps.

I think I had a brain blackout when I saw Holmes below Foreman, sorry Swag.

I can't pick Tunney, Dempsey, or Johnson over Holmes, Holy, or Foreman either. The absence of Frazier is so bizarre as to appear goofy.

Marciano is certainly debatable, I won't argue him on Atlas' list.

Looking at that list and seeing Marciano at #4 gave me pause, of the other 8 heavyweights on that list who would you favor Rocky to beat?
For me he might beat Johnson or Tunney and that's it and I'm not really confident of either

Not a bad list but no way is Tunney above Lewis and i think Wlad should be on there.

Why would Usyk losing the rematch at 38 negatively impact him vis a vis Holyfield? Surely if he fights long enough he will eventually lose to somebody. Nobody is suggesting he won't eventually lose if he fights on too long.

Holyfield was 2-0 vs Tyson who was no longer the Iron Mike of the 80's, a few years in prison will do that, 1-2 vs Bowe, and 0-1-1- vs Lewis which should of been 0-2 imo. Holyfield may have fought better guys, but it does not mean he has a better record vs em. Usyk at 38 years has already unify 2 titles in both the Cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions. And is 4-0 vs both Fury and Joshua. And even if Usyk loses his next bout, his place as a all-time great is set in stone.
