Put Canelo in 1920 with their training and nutrition etc. he would likely weigh somewhere around 155ish or so.
Put Jack Dempsey in 2020 and give him all the training, nutrition, PED's, hgh, etc that fighters now use and he would likely be around 220 or so.

Jack Dempsey in either time period beats the absolute **** out of Canelo Alvarez. Canelo's merry band of crooked judges and referees wouldn't be able to save him.

All these clips featured fighters with their hands low, Canelo uses are a very tight guard.

Correct. They would. I'd favour the 20s fighters against many of their counterparts today .. Jack Dempsey. Benny Leonard. Gene Tunney. Tommy Loughran. Pancho Villa. Mickey Walker. Jimmy McLarnin etc..

Most of todays fighters are soft by comparison. They fight once or twice a year. They have more divisions & more belts.. thus making it easier to become a multi weighter or a champion.. & they have performance enhancing drugs which among other things enable shortcuts.

It has evolved in some ways yes.. but overall i think it's become more diluted & less challenging. The times are also weaker therefore so are the men.

I can't see any fighter today replicating what Mickey Walker did .. a 5'7 WW/MW taking HOF HW Jack Sharkey (who outweighed him by 30lbs) to a draw.. Sharkey would go on to become the lineal HW champion & beat both Schmelling & Carnera ... he had previously beaten the likes of HOF LHW Tommy Loughran & an ageing Harry Wills too.. Canelo didn't even fancy Makabu & Beterbiev.. among the other HWs Walker beat was the 197lb Paulino Uzcudun .. who had beaten Baer & Wills & would go on to draw with Schmelling.. can u imagine something similar today?!

Walker also beat some excellent LHWs too.

You really think he couldn't compete with his WW/MW counterparts today? You gunna argue he only beat those HWs cos they are inferior to todays superior evolved HWs? What Joshua, Dubois & Fury LOL

Only one i rate is Usyk.. Fury got battered by a wrestler, Joshua is about as evolved as a creme egg & Dubois is probably still using crayons.. sorry.. but i ain't buying it.. watch some prime Sharkey & Schmelling & tell me Joshua's a better boxer

Dempsey would punch right through it.. Canelo can't crack an egg at HW .. he ain't beating someone as physical as Dempsey.. just stop.. Canelo threw the kitchen sink at a drained Callum Smith & couldn't stop him.. he doesn't have great footwork.. he gets frustrated when it doesn't go his way.. i.e Bivol, Scull etc.. imagine the hissy fit hed throw when a 20s fighter started mauling him lmao.. whats he gunna offer? A bit of head movement & some crappy arm punches.. he'd be a sitting duck for the mauler... Dempsey would mangle him

I mean agree strongly on the standpoint today's fighters are not active enough compared to in other era's.

60+ fight careers seem to be essentially almost dying out with Canelo being one of the last like what appears to be the last breed of that kind of activity.
