Very sad news. Benvenuti was a great fighter and arguably Italy's best boxer. RIP Champ

    87. Very sad but a life well lived.

RIP Nino. Thank you for your wonderful contribution to boxing. I will try to add one of his fights to our classic fight review for later this year as a tribute.

Oh no! Sad news. He was such a great fighter. One of the best Jr. Middleweights ever. A great ambassador to the sport as well. RIP.

Rest in peace 120-0 in amateur, Olympic Gold Medallist and unified WBA & WBC Super Welterweight world champion + WBA & WBC Middleweight world champion.

For sure a boxer who have a special place in the Western European Boxing in the 1960's.

87 is a good old age for a boxer. RIP.

Very saddened to hear this. He was 1 of the absolute GOAT amateur/Olympic boxers, an ATG @ 154-160, & simply a pleasure to watch for true aficionados of the sport during his prime. RIP Champ.

Nino was a great boxer and a guy that pretty much only lost to the best of his era. What he lacked in power, he more than made up with his skill and boxing ability. Anyone that holds a win over Emile Griffith is a great fighter but Nino beat him twice which only Monzon was able to do.

Benvenuti actually had very underrated power. He showed one punch KO power with his knock out win over Luis Manuel Rodriguez with the left hook.

He had a sneaky right uppercut too, as Griffith & Mazzinghi can attest to.

The 1 punch he lacked from his arsenal was a reliable straight right - he had a tendency to chop w/ it.
