After Yudai Shigeoka, the older brother, lost his WBC 105 lbs Mini Flyweight world title to Melvin Jerusalem and also lost the rematch. Ginjiro Shigeoka lost his IBF 105 lbs Mini Flyweight world title to another Filipino boxer Pedro Taduran in a major fight, but the Filipino had the upper hand in the hand-to-hand combat. If Ginjiro recovers from a defeat in the rematch on May 24th, which is very likely, what is the future plan for the two brothers? They were world champions extremely quickly; at the amateur level, they were probably the most talented in Japan. Will they move up to 108 lbs (Light Flyweight ) or retire? I have the impression that at 108 lbs (Light Flyweight), they will be at a significant disadvantage due to their physiques. Yudai Shigeoka, however, managed to beat the Filipino Samuel Salva at 108 lbs, who was a very decent level, although the latter also has a very weak physique at 108 lbs. I also have the impression that Yudai has a better chance of beating Pedro Taduran for the IBF title. He's outside the IBF top 15, however, but he could beat one of the two Japanese, Takeshi Ishii or Yuni Takada, to move up the IBF rankings. Also, we must say that he has an average physique at 108 lbs, unlike Ginjiro, who is practically doomed to remain at 105 lbs.
