If you don't now understand that Taylor is completely done there is something wrong with you. He's a shell of himself. No self-belief. No stamina anymore. No hunger. EE is a good fighter but he's domestic level and most of the times I've seen him fight he's gone life and death at domestic level. Nice guy and I'm pleased for him. Taylor needs to retire

Taylor should hang it up, he hasn't looked good in like 4-5 years. I don't know if he's an alcoholic but that's not good if he is, but he definitely should of moved up after unifying 140 and absolutely for sure moved up after he said he had trouble making the weight against Catteral the first time around.

I had it 116-112 for Essuman.

Taylor looked good at times, he's clearly the better technical fighter, but the same flaws are still there. He not any good on the outside despite his size, he's a big man that fights like a small man and when he was in his prime he ground fighters down using his combination of size, sheer grit and skills in mid and close range. But that was always going to be a difficult style to make work at a higher weight.

Good scorecards; so happy for Essuman, he evidently works very hard and has the heart of a lion, I like Taylor but Essuman deserves his day in the sun. Not sure where there is to go for Taylor; he showed customary great heart here tonight but the physicality of welterweight maybe too much for him; he probably can't do it at world level at 147, and I wonder for a fighter of his legacy and pedigree if fights at sub world level will do it for him. Maybe a farewell fight in Scotland and call it a day as a British boxing legend.

His corner were telling him that Ekow needed to win the last 2 rounds, so maybe it's that, but then he still maintains he beat Catterall in the 1st fight, so who knows.

You can't abuse the bottle and expect to stay a top class athlete - especially one that involves sustained body punishment, but can't take anything away from Ekow, a miscalculation from Taylor's team in terms of 1st welter fight, given his engine.

Would you say the same about Riddick Bowe in his Golota fights? I remember you disagreed he was past it ;)

But yeah - pretty surprised with this result. Did not see this coming really. Taylor had declined but I expected him to beat Essuman, he was literally undisputed champion and had beaten good fighters.

Depends on if Brian Norman Jr gets past Jin Sasaki. Whoever wins should fight Essuman next.
