A once respected undisputed fighter now becoming more washed up. Just hasn’t been the same since the first Caterrall fight and Teofimo loss. I don’t think he has much left at this point and perhaps it might be better for him to retire.
Yes absolutely, he was undisputed achieved so much in such a short space of time. but he’s absolutely not going to make any waves at welterweight and he’s completely shot and racking up loss after loss.
It's up to him and his family really, I don't like the way fans jump all over a fighter and determine when it's time for him to retire, although I understand the sentiment. Boxing is his job; maybe he needs money to help extended family or to meet wider responsibilities. He's a man. If what is meant is, is this the ideal time for him to retire, that has already past.
Yeah. He can't beat #69 welterweight, he has no future I think he has stamina issues; probably a big boozer between fights ala Hatton. Hopefully that purse was going to top him off financially.. This is tough to say coming from a part Scot here. Long live Tartan Tornado.
While I usually hate threads like this, in Taylor's case he needs to protect the legacy he built at 140 and call it a day, focus on his family and personal life, and get his boozing sorted out. The passion is gone and his gas tank has a leak. The only thing that awaits him are long drawn out beatings, then eventually multiple early KO losses. It's over! The Tartan Tornado has dissipated.
Yes you cant compete at the top level forever In your mind you think you can but your body tells you different Old Age is a B itch
It's up to him of course; if he still has the passion and just loves fighting, regardless of what level it is at, then continue by all means. But as a former undefeated champion, he will never reach that level again, and if he still has illusions of picking up another title then someone in his team needs to tell him that will never happen and the best thing is to call it a day.
It all comes down to you scots paying to watch him if he continues. If there is no money he won't continue. If he fights the Essuman of the world and sells out the stadium, then I don't see him quitting.
I don't see things getting any better for him, so retirement would be a smart choice as I only see more losses in his future and he's now lost 3 fights on the trot. I can't really see where he goes from here. 140 is not longer the weak division it was when he was undisputed so moving back down is a dead end and based on what we saw in his debut at 147, he's nowhere near world class at this weight and his style simply doesn't translate well to facing bigger men.
