What can Tony Yoka do in Heavyweight today ? For me he win his last fight very close 96-94 against Arslan Yallyev who is not even a real top 30 in Heavyweight. But Yoka is totally mentally not in the ring he don't have self confidence at all and his contract with Canal+ (famous channel in France) is finished so he can't not even win good money for fight little opponent / or old boxers in top 30. Well if you consider the fight with Joe Joyce but after ? Even the winner what can he expect ? Becoming a journeyman or a tough test for the prospects like Kevin Johnson in the past ? The same for Joe Joyce too much wars he can't not take the punches and it's really hard for his health if he continue his career he seriously need to think about it.
I suppose with Joyce you wonder what could have been; he is coming on 40, he had his first "big" fight against Dubois when he was 35, and he turned pro at 31 coming on 32. He was probably already past his prime at the time he turned pro, although I am not making any excuses for him as it was his decision to stay in the amateur ranks so long. I know people think Joyce has always been slow so his age doesn't matter, but I don't think that is the case; over Joyce's pro career you can observe a clear decline, he started off an educated boxer with a great jab, a robust gas tank, a granite chin, and timing that was both deceptively quick and highly variable so his opponent couldn't get a handle on it. He is a shadow of his past self nowadays, relying on his (diminished) chin, power, and gas tank, with all his other attributes gone to pot. Yes Joyce probably should retire, though I hope he gets a nice send off against a beatable opponent. As for Yoka, he never had it. He turned pro at 25 which left him plenty of time to make waves in the sport. Quite simply he never had the heart, power and gas tank needed to make it at the world level of the division. He hasn't achieved a fraction of what Joyce has achieved in the pro ranks, and unlike Joyce you cannot say things would have been better for him if he turned over earlier.
I think the only quality at world level for Yoka is that he have a iron chin & a lot of courage all the punishment he take against Carlos Takam & Martin Bakole...
Yes it's true I totally agree personally I will just say that we see their limits no interesting for them to continue.
Are you confused? I'm not talking about Joe Joyce, I'm talking about Tony Yoka! His mandible is a fragile as they come. If he fights Joyce, he's taking a canvas nap
Nothing to be gained from them fighting each other, other than the cold hard cash. Yoka was never any cop to begin with, and his hiding away in Paris fighting cherry picked opponents showed his level even before he took that 3 loss streak. Joyce did have it. But turned over way too late and only had a very short prime as a HW. Back in the day an amateur olympic boxer in team GB could earn well, and that is why many stayed amateur for so long.
Yoka's career is dead in the water. I don't see him doing anything even if he some how beats Joyce, I don't see him having many opportunities. He isn't marketable, he isn't exciting. If Joyce wins, he has the advantage of being British and exciting to watch. He could still make good money as a gate keeper and has enough of a name where he can still get paid reasonably well. He probably should retire given how easily he is to hit, but as long as he can keep making money I don't see him retiring.
