Counting BOTH their amateur runs AND pros, Who was more impressive? Usyk Or mayweather?

And also… who was better for the sport of boxing?? I think it’s pretty much clear as day, Oleksandr Usyk was both! Plus floyd NEVER went into his opponents backyards like Usyk did so many times and won so impressively. But make your pick and explain why

Usyk is truly a great ambassador of the sport too. Nobody can even say any different and not sound stupid

Floyd was obviously a great fighter but a large portion of his career was smoke and mirrors with careful matchmaking.

So for me it is Usyk. Once Usyk turned pro he wasted no time and always fought the best available competition most of the time as the B side and on the road. Became undisputed in 2 divisions including winning the WBSS. No smoke and mirrors no games just good old fashion hard work and self belief.

 

Mayweathers career is about 4 times as impressive

 

Usyk, because ultimately Usyk would beat Mayweather every day of the week.

 

I prefer to watch Usyk fight ... but Mayweather gets the nod.

 

I'm the opposite I prefer watching Mayweather fight well his fights below Welterweight anyway when he used to get stoppages.

I am not sure I agree with this extent of grouping amateur achievements with the same worth as pro's.

However I do also value amateur achievements if it's a very deep pool like Uysk's but it's still more about the pro's in my opinion.

 

Now this is where word choice really matters. In terms of P4P greatness I don't think there's much debate Mayweather is better. But since you're asking for who was more IMPRESSIVE and BETTER FOR THE SPORT I think you gotta say Usyk since he constantly challenged himself, always fought on foreign soil, never ducked anyone, unified two divisions, and now at heavyweight constantly fighting bigger stronger fighters. I think all of that is much more impressive then anything Floyd did who tried to maximize his money making potential while minimizing his risks especially as he got older and now we have an influx of fighters who do the same ruining the sport. If more fighters had Usyk's attitude sport would be way better.

 

Counting both, Usyk.

Pros alone, Mayweather.

Better for the sport? Eh, that one's tough. Mayweather brought a LOT of eyes and put up some insane PPV numbers playing the heel that everybody wanted to see humbled. That is balanced, however, against charged leveled at him by critics of him setting the "overly protective toward one's zero" trend, and in his fights (especially at welter and up) probably not being as scintillating as most of Usyk's, if we're looking strictly at in-ring and not the hype and shenanigans that went into selling them.

 

That really doesn’t even make sense. We both know floyd would NEVER… EVER fight a world class boxer that’s 50lbs heavier than him with a five inch height and reach advantage. lol And Usyk had ZERO issue doing that with Fury. Twice

Also Usyk rose to the occasion and got the job done at the Olympics. Your boy mayweather failed to. Yeah that last fight in Atlanta was controversial but floyd should’ve left no doubt as to who won! Plus Usyk beat a world champion in Russo to get his Gold and did so impressively.

Plus I just couldn’t imagine Usyk lacking integrity and actually fighting an MMA fighter making his pro boxing debut to get to a certain number on his record and then claiming a big victory off that. No way.

 

Fury is a fat mess that should’ve had two losses already, Floyd has a bunch of more impressive wins not to mention having fought about 5x the volume of quality opposition as Usyk. Overrating the impact of size at heavyweight is baseless propaganda. Usyk is a poor mans Lomachenko nothing more, no amount of propaganda will change this fact

 

I think even just pro its narrowly Usyk. Mayweather had bad fights that it is generally felt that he lost. He aged fighters out. He cherry-picked. And I like the guy. But Usyk has done his things very clean.
