    • A worse matchup than Foreman, Liston. Klitschsko, or Lewis? I don’t think so. Tyson would not have body type or size to overwhelm Frazier. Smokin Joe was better defensively and was a much better combination puncher and a higher volume puncher. Tyson would get beaten down as he normally was af

Dwight Braxton can be offended all he wants, but against a 1971 version of Ali you can bet that Braxton would get sparked by Ali inside ten regardless of whatever last name or religion old Dwight wanted to call himself. A 1971 Ali was not a worn and torn Mathew Franklin. Frazier was special, period. Braxton/Muhammad is only known for beating a worn out Franklin.

Frazier literally was better defensively. His head movement was much better than Tyson’s. Frazier could actually box.

    1. Why're you disrespecting Qawi's name change...wtf ? Totally unnecessary.

    2. Why are all your replies so scattered, are you having IT issues?

    3. Considering Mike has a better jab than Frazier it's interesting you say the latter is a better boxer.

Tyson would have been satisfied with about as much heart as he showed in the fight with Douglas, Holyfield, Lewis, Danny Williams, Ruddock.
Arturo Gatti had a lot of heart but was never able to threaten De la Hoya or Mayweather even though he fell and got up much more often than they did. The fact that Frazier got up 6 times in the fight with Foreman is really no argument.

Frazier fought like his life depended on it. I'm not sure Mike ever quite got there, though he was a really brave man against Lewis, Ruddock, and Douglas.

Tyson drops Joe, is aghast when he gets back up slapping his gloves together. From there it's all downhill, Frazier taking some vicious shots but more often than not getting inside faster, ducking, then ripping the hook. Mike starts to slow down when he sees he's not keeping Joe out, and ends up getting hit even more as Frazier is relentlessly coming forward. Rooney warns Mike to stop fighting off the back foot but Frazier isn't staying off him. Mike is getting smothered anytime he attempts any type of serious attack, and his face is getting swollen.

Mike lands another great barrage against Joe, but is exhausted failing to stop him. Mike is getting battered all over the ring and stopped 10th round at the latest.

That line about being insulted when he was compared to Frazier where did you read that?

Something to chew on is that Frazier looked impressive when guys where punching down at him… Muhammad Ali is brought up to show off how good he could move his head a lot but Tyson and Frazier would be the same height it’s a lot harder to deal with hooks and especially uppercuts moving the way he did (from the waist) when when you factor that in.

I first saw Qawi fight as Gregory, so that name is ingrained in my brain, and I can spell Gregory more easily. I am not sure what you mean about my replies being scattered——I am busy and there could be a significant time difference? It’s not personal. Tyson turned into a 1-2 punch at a time boxer. His head movement completely disappeared early on in his career. Frazier was a bobbing and weaving machine and was excellent at alternating head and body attacked. Tyson was left handed so in theory he should have had a good jab, but in reality Tyson threw bombs every other punch. Neither boxer had a great jab. Frazier was a proven 15 round fighter who never quit.

This is kind of funny as I agree with both scenarios of how this fight will go. Some time ago my first thought was Tyson's speed would be too much for Joe along with combos when he had Frazier hurt and he stops him early, maybe rescued by the ref. Then there's this nagging suspicion that if Frazier fights back and lands a good hook it might stifle Tyson's attack and he has to fight with a man who isn't going away and it's Tyson who wilts late. If I had to bet I'd go with Mike but as reluctantly as possible.
