I'd take Kovalev. He had the footwork for distance control, that great jab to control the flow of the fight and enough power to make the other guy think twice before just rushing in.

Ellis knocked Bonavena down two times I think...If I remember right at least one of those (maybe both?) was because of Bonavena's lack of balance and footwork. OB could be stopped by a sharp, quick puncher on the 3 knockdown rule and not even be seriously hurt. Quick, sharp punchers with good balance would probably be more dangerous to OB than harder punchers like Frazier.

That's simply incorrect. Bonavena was badly hurt both times and his legs in real trouble. Ellis had plenty of pop when he threw with intent.

You think Michael Spinks could drop Bonavena?

Kovalev is a good shout and with day before weigh ins, he may not be too much smaller than Bonavena.

How about Bivol? Best defensive boxer out of the current crop for my money, great stamina, rarely if ever out of position to get caught flush, more than matches Ringo dimensions-wise.

Not sure if his point-fighting counts as "beating up" tho, but oh well.
