Tyson was over marketing, and the general sports fans loved it. Like you said the 1980s had good talent overall, depth and two excellent champions in Holmes and Tyson. The problem was Alphabet boxing politics, drugs, and well for some laziness. I happen to think Witherspoon is a top all time 25 heavyweight. A fine 3rd man in most decades, he was black balled by Don King. Tucker had a world of ability. Tubbs and Dokes were quick as they come. Dokes had problems with drugs. Thomas, before the drugs got him was quality. Coetzee, Smith, Cooney, Page, and Weaver could ko almost anyone they hit clearly.
I loved watching Tucker coming up. He was one of the huge guys that could actually move pretty fast for those times. Plus he was powerful. I don't think he was as committed to training all the time over the years, he had a few good camps but from what I heard he wasn't the best worker keeping in shape in between camps. Didn't have that intense desire month in and month out that some of the other top guys had. not saying he would of been way way better but he could of been better imo.
Yes absolutely correct Sir. I would like to commend you for a quality. I agree 100% with everything you said.
Would rate him in the very good category. If he hadn't disappeared for two years after the Tyson fight it might have been different.
He was a very good fighter from the 80's Overall H2H eras: 10's > 00's > 90's > 80's > 70's > 60's > 50's
