If Lomachenko had stayed at Super Featherweight - what would have happened?

I personally can't have seen him losing at 130. He would have continued to have whooped everyone with ease until he decided to retire. He was barely losing any rounds there, he was untouchable.

 

I'm one of those who also thinks he should have stuck around at 130 and completely dominated there. Especially when you have guys like Oscar Valdez, Miguel Berchelt, Francisco Vargas, Alberto Machado whom he would have easily taken apart. Not to mention a rising Tank Davis who I think Loma would have beaten quite clearly as well.

Loma would have easily become undisputed 130 and still made his move up to 135 IMO.

 

Yes he'd have had all those names on his resume and more. He could have gone down as the greatest super featherweight ever.

He should have just moved up to lightweight for the Linares fight, won the title and moved straight back down to 130. It was obviously straight away he was far too small for lightweight.

 

He would probably become the best ever at that weight class.

 

He’d be a top ATG at the weight.

 

Lomachenko's run at 130 was too short lived quite honestly. But damn he looked sensational at that weight where he was at his quickest and most explosive. Still remember that crazy one punch KO of Roman Martinez and then his strings of No Mas where he absolutely toyed with Walters, Sosa, Marriaga, and Rigondeaux. He would have done the same against Valdez and Berchelt no doubt. Maybe even Tank as well.

At least not for a while. At the time the top dogs were all stylistically perfect for Loma.
Even right now, Loma would be favored over anyone at 130, with Roach being the only one who stands out in the division.

 

Yeah I really think he would’ve stayed undefeated there to be honest. Loma was the type that loved to challenge himself though. And he was in kind of a weird position because he turned pro rather late so he didn’t really have a lot of time to correctly put on mass to move up but had the perfect body type to stay at 130 and even fight a weight class or MAYBE two below. Maybe…

Most of the fighters I mentioned above had the perfect style for Loma to look stunning against. No doubt that he would have ruled 130 with an iron fist for years if his manager convinced him to stay there. I feel like we've been robbed of seeing more of prime Loma dominating.

But of course much like with Naoya Inoue when a fighter continues to dominate a single weight class you'll still have people claiming that he's been fighting weak opposition and that he needs to move up to be considered great. I have no doubt that certain people would still have tried finding a way to criticize Loma no matter how dominant he looked.

 

130 was his best weight class, he could have become Undisputed there for sure.

 

Would he have beaten Floyd and Pac at 130? Primes obviously..

 

Hmm? I think he'd beat Manny maybe easier than most might think , Eric Morales did and busted his face up.. Mayweather? I might have to go with Loma.

 

Had Loma remained at 130lbs, he'd have unified while dominating the weight for as long as he elected to campaign there, establishing himself as an ATG SFW.

At 130lbs, Loma was the complete package and an absolute apex predator: power, speed, technical and defensive ability, and next generation footwork.
