From RTFight - Disappointing if true from Usyk.. Interim WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker(36-3, 24 KOs) revealed a recent exchange he had with undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) regarding a potential showdown in the future. “I went up to him and said, ‘You’ve got two fights left. Next is Dubois, and your last one should be with me.’ And he replied, ‘No, no, no.’” Parker believes Usyk is chasing big-money fights, and sees Daniel Dubois and a possible rematch with Anthony Joshua or a long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury as higher priorities. He told me, ‘Do your thing, don’t worry — after I retire, you’ll get your shot,’ or something like that. I’d love to fight him. I truly believe he’s the best fighter — the best heavyweight — of our generation,” said Parker.
Parker is unfairly overlooked, it's sad that some Joshua who lives on his old glory and doesn't fight anyone would enjoy the status of Hearn's protégé because he's a coward and doesn't have the heart of a fighter, but he's a Cash Cow, while Parker has to fight for everything...
https://rtfight.com/news/parker-wanted-usyk-last-fight Usyk is an honest man but I didn't think he'd be this honest........ just the big money rematches and no new opponents huh Usyk is 38 so he can retire if he wants, he's earned it after taking the division by the horns, Lewis was only 37. But just don't hold up the belts
Usyk needs to relinquish the belts if and after he beats Dubois. Relinquish all the belts. Not just one. If you don't want to fight Parker, there is no reason you should hold a single belt.
Usyk only wants Brits he’s already beaten. There is zero doubt anymore that he is ducking Parker and Kabayel
I'd love to see Usyk fight Parker - Joe deserves to be next more than anyone else in the division. I don't care about it being for undisputed... If Usyk dropped them all and fought Parker beltless I'd be just as okay with it - I'd just like to see that fight.
I can't believe there are romantic thinkers saying, "Usyk will hang up his gloves and retire after the Dubois fight." I think after Usyk beats Dubois, he'll have at least four more fights. This guy has dedicated his entire life to boxing, and he's only just begun making $30 million per fight. With a money-spending tycoon like Turki around throwing cash left and right, there's no way he'll retire without reaping the rewards. Plus, Ukraine's situation is obvious. Usyk won’t retire before pocketing at least another $100 million. In fact, I think he might even maximize profits by having an exhibition match with someone like Jake Paul for his final bout.
Parker needs to avenge the KO to Joyce, really. How can he really say he deserves it more than Kebabyal, who himself doesn't really. It's just because there's a vacuum now with everyone getting old.
If he beats Dubois Usyk is only fighting Chisora. Usyk hasn't shown the slighest bit of interest in a non rematch. Except an MMA fighter whose since been defeated. I consider Kabayel the more deserving interim champ than Parker but its a moot point because Usyks fighting neither.
This whole "Usyk has nothing to prove" movement is so strange. Hes a champion whose beaten 5 indivduals at HW in almost 6 years. Hes not Joe Louis.
Sure - and TBF, who better than Parker to carry it forward into the next era, if he could pull it off. Personally, I think Usyk knows his body and boxing too well to go too long and get beaten, but who knows
