Just pick the stance that suits you more and use it for now. Switch-hitting is something to consider well down the road. It's a wonderful journey, be patient, welcome, and good luck.

I’m similar to you: left handed and left footed but I’ve always been proficient with my right hand (for writing etc)

I also did fencing for years which I used the left foot forward stance for (same as boxing’s orthodox stance)

Do what feels natural to you: for me, boxing as a southpaw is more natural. Though jabs and lead hooks as an orthodox feel very snappy.

If you can’t decide which stance, I’d say try southpaw just because it’s rarer and gives you an advantage over most (orthodox) fighters

If you’re right handed don’t listen to people saying to “pick one” Hagler was right handed and became a southpaw but that wasn’t why he was successful… work on an orthodox stance and really learn to fight and it won’t matter if the other guy is a southpaw.

Well down the road? Why? If I step backwards into a southpaw stance to make your punch fall short it doesn’t require a lot of skill to throw a left straight… if you meant going rounds doing one stance or the other I retract my statement and think it’s dumb anyway.

A really good jab is thrown like a fencers thrust, I bet yours was like a lance.

    Going round, yes.:sisi1

No worries, boxing really doesn't have that much of an unified dictionary and etymology so some terms may be misinterpreted, Philly Shell, Shoulder Roll, and Michigan Defense being the most notable example (with Hopkins and Witherspoon I reckon referring to it as a general defensive aptitude and craft, while most of the world calls Mayweather's shoulder roll in that manner.)
