Imane Khelif vs Claressa Shields would be the biggest fight in womens boxing history!

If I was born with a vagina, I too would think that I was a woman, so I wouldn't really hold that against her.
But looking at her training footage, it´s hard to argue that she is actually a woman.

    I know it's persnickety but...

If I was born with something that looked like a vagina, I too would believe I was a woman.

Yes, there's some sympathy there - it must've been very hard finding out the truth... That sort of thing must really turn ones world upside down.

Sympathy is lost when continuing to fight women when in clear possession of aforementioned truth - at that point, any moral individual accepts this isn't fair and quits... And any moral sports governing body doesn't allow them to continue even if they're immoral enough to enter.

You're absolutely right about the video and the bloke in general - he's very clearly not a woman.

I wonder if that WNBA´s Brittney Griner is in the same boat. I recently saw a topless video of her, and she had no sisters on that flat chest of hers. Not to mention her super deep voice and generally masculine look.

No idea, I can't say I'm familiar with the individual...

My general understanding is it's far less likely in more developed countries - with generally much higher levels of medical training, more likelihood of questions being asked in ambiguous cases... And then when abnormal development occurs, less chance of the individual not finding out and less chance of medical investigation being skipped, etc.

It might not be impossible in insular communities where proper medical care is withheld, I suppose... Not convinced it's particularly likely?

And again, the fact this question can even be asked without being ridiculous (with full respect to your good self!!) is indicative of how insanely lax sporting authorities have been on this topic... If this Male+DSD thing were consistently and properly handled across sports, you wouldn't think to ask that, I'm sure @Badbot ?

Woman = human with a uterus.

It's a guy and should not be competing vs women.

But she has the advantages of being a man based on an X chromosome. The idea that she should be competing against a woman is absurd.

Maybe the cheerleaders for this crap will be happy when a woman dies. There have already been a number crippled and raped from having men put in jail cells with them.

As above. Will you be so smug when a woman dies?

Don't disagree with any of this actually. Just pointing out that plenty of people have this unfortunate condition, and by no means is it usually some nefarious attempt to scam or trick anyone. Granted, in Khelif's case, it most likely is. So I have far less sympathy for her than I do most like her.

That may very well be the case, I've seen pictures of those things and some of them are hair raising. As far as the second point goes, yes I think he should be banned. But to be honest, I'd rather be punched in the face repeatedly than think I'm a man my entire life only to then be told I'm a woman. Punches cause physical pain, but the other, that's traumatic on a whole different life-altering level.

There's plenty of people who are born intersexed that are completely oblivious to it like these two. Somehow I doubt Imane never had that thought creep through her head a time or two.

So apparently Imane was supposed to compete in some event in Europe soon and when they said they were doing gender eligibility tests for everyone, they decided to not participate in the event.

I don’t care where anyone stands on this, they may have been born with a vagina, but their insides across the board dictate they are a male. They tested in 2022 and 2023, failed both tests, logged an official appeal, but then withdrew the appeal. I imagine they withdrew the appeal because they examined the results of the test and knew they had no leg to stand on. Now, when required to do another gender test for a new event, they declined.

The truth is gonna come out at some point. It’s unavoidable.

I think that term "intersex" is probably responsible for a lot of confusion... It implies that these unfortunate individuals are between the sexes and that it isn't overwhelmingly a binary - both of which are incorrect.

Aside from a vanishingly small minority within an already tiny minority, everyone is either one sex or the other - and that incredibly tiny minority within the DSD category isn't a third sex either, they're essentially both sexes simultaneously.

A person like Khelif who is 46XY-5ARD isn't between sexes - they're males with a DSD (difference of sexual development) that makes them appear ambiguous at birth, but go through puberty as males and can usually even father children, with a little intervention (as Caster Semenya has, for example).

Again, I have every sympathy with individuals who have their lives turned upside down by an unpleasant revelation like this... What I have no sympathy for is those individuals pretending they aren't what they really are in order to ruin the fairness of women's sport... I have even less sympathy for anyone else (TRA's in particular) who would look to make things deliberate obscure in order to manipulate the situation for cynical insertionist advantage.

Khelif knew about his testicles and I'm pretty sure he wanted to trick people.

I posted this picture a while back and some people said it was photoshop, but it's not. It was from a news article. Why would a "woman" need to wear a groin protector unless they have testicles to protect?

Imane is toast and their arrogance about the situation makes me lack sympathy for them
