Battles on the inside where two fighters won't lay off of each other, both in punching, and in clinching. Simple as that.
Though more in favour of Chavez, his fight against Edwin Rosario was more than satisfyingly up close and personal.
The trench sequences during Duran vs Leonard 1 were unreal. For those of us who feel that Ray erred, opting to fight Roberto’s fight - at least for me, I don’t care - however it came about, we got to see the fight we saw and we’re not giving it back. Lol. A lot easier for Ray in fight 2 - but let’s face it, it was a yawn as compared to The Brawl In Montreal.
Duran and Barkley are two of the many names I think of that had careers packed to the brim with trench warfare. Never a dull moment with them. I rewatched Barkley's fight against Sims yesterday, as well as Hearns I and Olajide today. And yeah... I stand by Duran - Leonard I being the best fight of all time. Bite me.
If someone chooses the entire career of Iran Barkley to be their favorite trench wars, then I'll pick the entire career of Myung Woo Yuh and Troy Dorsey, they came, they bang, they leave.
Using the fists. good thing I mentioned this on a boxing forum and thread, not some threads asking "what's your favorite adult films OAT?"
Frazier vs Quarry 1 was good, Frazier was getting banged up bad and backed out of the trenches he got cold feet there for a second and it was JQ winning the battle of hooks, awesome till Quarry got injured / began to gas.
