This is a thread for future discussions when Jalolov becomes heavyweight champion Jalolov - 2x Olympic gold medalist, southpaw, 6'7, good lateral movement, power puncher with a signature straight left down the pipe. Can Jalolov repeat what Sanders did or would Klitschko outbox and KO him ?
I don't think he's made to beat Klitschko stylistically. After Sanders, Wlad fought a lot of southpaws, and generally beat them pretty badly.
Jalalov is going absolutely nowhere as a pro. So comparing him with Sanders and Wlad is as hypothetical as it gets.
Jalolov is missing a key ingredient that Corrie Sanders had… freakishly fast hands. Also Sanders was a very clever counter puncher.
Jalolov might beat the Wlad that fought Sanders as that was a very flawed version of Wlad who would give opportunities to Jalolov to land the counter left hand. But prime Wlad had learned to not just stand their after throwing to be countered, he'd move or clinch and smother the counter that became a key part of his style and a success during his long reign. You don't beat prime Wlad by standing off and waiting to counter which is how Jalolov likes to fight. You have to beat Wlad to the punch, make him be the one that has to counter your lead, because Wlad relies on landing first with his jab and grab style. That's how Fury beat him using his size to land from the outside first so Wlad was always a step behind and being forced to try and fight a style of fight he is not used to by trying to counter Fury's lead. So no, I don't think Jalolov is all wrong for Wlad. Maybe he'd be problematic if he can establish the jab, but he doesn't really throw an authoritative jab, he just paws with it. His movement too could cause Wlad issues, if he can make Wlad chase and keep him out of position. Not an easy fight for Wlad if he ends up having to chase and cut off the ring but Wlad was champion for as long as he was for a reason and Jalolov hasn't shown us enough to ever pick him over Wlad.
