Rewatched Roldan Vs Kinchen the other day and the commentators were saying some stuff about him having a good, prolific career in the amateurs, which I had not heard before (I must've had the audio turned off for that fight previously).

Anybody know any details about it?

I thought he was a good amateur, but not the top elite type.

He boxed as an amateur for about six years and won a string of regional titles but never really rose above that level. He had some trouble settling on a weight division, boxing at light heavyweight and then heavyweight before trimming back down to middleweight.

Article here about him winning a tournament at light middleweight in 1974, when he would have been just 15.
