This is an awesome match up where the pace is non stop with some savage exchanges from both men. Mitchell would certainly hold his own very well against Fenech with his jab, defense and workman like offense. Mitchell was certainly the better technician of the two and would do better by outboxing Fenech on the outside but I'm not sure if he has the power to keep Fenech off him for long though. It all depends on if Mitchell can control Fenech at mid range without being forced to fight his fight in a phone booth brawl.

No one is getting stopped here, that's for sure. 50/50 fight for me where both guys can win it 7-5 or perhaps even a draw.

I have always found Fenech to be a bit, or more than a bit, overrated. More people love aggression which Fenech had but he didn't possess the equalizer of overwhelming power or much of a plan B. I see Mitchell controlling that mauling aggression in a fight that doesn't deliver for the average fan. Mitchell was just damned resourceful, and never really got his confidence shaken despite being such a road warrior. I am shading toward Brian in a close but clear decision. Interesting fight for sure.

I actually got to watch all of Brians fights and it was pretty neat to watch an unpolished boxer who relied on durability, stamina, and strength become a crafty boxer over time. Brian did many subtle things that go unnoticed but play a big role in the outcome of the fight.
I think the ability of Brian to make adjustments would be the difference.

I haven't seen his early stuff but remember the Lopez fights and the Frankie Mitchell fight especially very well. I was surprised at his craftiness. Lopez, who was really good at the time, pushed him hard but didn't present the problems to break him.

I'd go with Mitchell by decision because Super Featherweight was his best weight.

Whilst Fenech had a good performance vs Nelson that's his only real notable performance at the weight.

So I think the more consistent performer at Super Featherweight in Mitchell should be favoured here.
