They were trying to desperately up until the 5th round, but after that even they gave up on him. And yes, it was a one-sided beat down.

The fight was ordered by the WBC as Rodriguez was Yafai’s mandatory for the WBC Interim World Title. Yafai had no choice but to fight him if he wanted a shot at unified world champion Kenshiro Teraji who he would have lost to anyway in Japan as he’s easily the best in the division.

Learn the facts before spreading your hate for Matchroom at any opportunity which you constantly seem to do!

You don’t have to do exactly what the governing bodies say.

The WBC recently ordered Pacheco to fight Mbilli but Matchroom pulled him out. Jack Catterall was ordered to face Hitchins in an IBF eliminator but Matchroom took him in a different direction… plenty of examples.

Matchroom should have gone another route. They went from Sunny Edwards to Rodriguez. Bad error of judgement.

Then he would have vacated the title and missed out on a shot at the world title. Stop letting your hatred for Matchroom spread onto every situation. This situation was different to the Catterall one as Yafai was WBC Interim World Champion so not ranked by any of the other 3 governing bodies, whereas Catterall was ranked in all 4 so could pick what route he wanted to go down.

You criticised their matchmaking because you didn’t know that it was actually ordered so it in fact had nothing to do with their matchmaking!

You edited your reply so I never saw this sorry.

The Pacheco situation was different again as he was ranked in all 4 governing bodies. Yafai was WBC Interim World Champion so only ranked by the WBC. Pacheco was already WBO mandatory so why would he fight an eliminator for the WBC????

You’re bringing up examples which are completely different situations. You’re comparing apples to oranges.

I think McCracken is a quality coach but that fight should have been stopped. Yafai showed toughness and grit in spades, which is of course tremendously brave and admirable, but he lost years of his career and probably also his life. Yafai didn’t have the experience to even roll with the shots so he was taking 100s of flush, full-force shots to the head and body against a bonafide puncher. I thought Chihuas gave a tremendous performance but Yafai’s corner should have known he was too down on the cards and not explosive enough as a puncher to stop someone with such a proven chin like Rodriguez.

There was a moment when the referee called Rodriguez to get the cut checked by the doctor, and that was the most worried and in trouble he looked in the entire fight.

Bricktop would have made the doctor stop the fight. Hearn is slipping.

The way the mexican gave beatdowns effortlessly from both stances was actually scary.
