Just home from a having a few and not sure why I'm replying to this but I'll say it. I'm not Bellews biggest fan by any means but even at Heavy, he will take out Dave Allen by 9 or 10 rounds. Bellew a light heavy really but his frame could stretch. Levels to this game
Many will be blinkered by Bellew stopping Toe Haye twice - any decent fighter at Cruiser or above would have done the same to a man simply a shell since beating Chisora in 2012. Dave Allen is shyte but would give Bellew a far tougher test than the crippled old version of Toe Haye. A 50/50 fight for me.
Both stinking but Allen has a legit jaw, Bellend isn't putting a dent in him. Allen only needs to get lucky once.
Yes Haye was shot. However if his leg didn't capitulate during the first fight, he would have won I reckon. Certainly was ahead on the scorecards. His body was broken by then. Haye in his prime stops Bellew in 4 rounds or less with ease. I was no big fan of Haye either just to note. Anyway mate, back to the thread. Allen could make it competitive for a few rounds but he eats too many clean shots. Allen is domestic level really.
Bellew wins a decision in this, he is far more active and dynamic than Allen. Allen will be competitive in some of the rounds but will lose a decision. Bellew is levels above Allen.
Quite a tricky one. Bellew would box his head off but dave allen would be there for 12 rounds and he only has to tag him once. Bellew on points or allen with the KO It's a good fight actually who knows. I'll say allens size at his peak of fitness (lol) catches up with bellew late and stops him.
Bellew v Cleverly 2, anyone dare to remember that classic? Even against David Toe 1 when Bellend had a sitting duck as a target for umpteen rounds and still struggled. Leave me alone Tone, is remembered by people through rose tinted glasses to the extreme.
The Adonis Stevenson fight is the one which convinces me that Bellew would not want to know should Allen land a decent blow. Every chance of that happening during 12 rounds as Bellew not exactly Floyd Mayweather.
Allen isn't great but he's just so much bigger in terms of weight and he has a decent chin and a bit of pop. I can't see Bellew putting a real dent in him. Bellew should be able to box and land his punches - but as Beale says, Bellew isn't a defensive whizz. He was a solid boxer with a decent dig..Even then he wasn't a lethal puncher just slightly better than most. But Allen is 30 - 40 lbs heavier, maybe even as much as 50while being of similar height and reach. I don't think this is a foregone conclusion. Every chance Allen can just walk him down while taking Bellew's punches to land bigger ones of his own. Bellew had a well-managed career - he's not the 2nd coming of Ali.
I like Dave, comes across as a really nice, genuine guy. But Bellew would have comprehensively beat him. Levels above.
