I don't know all the details but apparently Askren contracted pneumonia after contracting a staph infection. He's been hospitalized and is in a critical condition. There are rumors he has sepsis and is on death's door. Just thought it would be appropriate to make a thread for him and wish for his recovery. It's not looking good but miracles do happen. He was never a personal favorite of mine as a fighter, but he gave a lot to both the sport of wrestling and to mma. He was an innovator with his funk roll style in wrestling, and he and Khabib made a lot of advancements to combining positional dominance with ground and pound. He was also gave a lot of his time to the wrestling community helping young kids in their athletic endeavors. Anyway, hope the best for him.
I really, really hope that he makes it. And modern medicine is truly amazing! A double lung transplant...wtf?
Hard to watch. Kudos to Jake Paul for helping pay for his surgery(If True), I hope he makes a full recovery ASAP.
He looks a lot better in this video. I don't know what kind of complications he's going to have as a result of this transplant but at least he's gotten a second chance at life. And he isn't feeling sorry for himself, either. Askren is a strong person. This content is protected
