Everybody knows those are not "Lions", but antelope. Prey. Why would I want to spend a bone more or less to watch another antelope avoiding confrontation for 36 minutes? Nobody wants to see it.

Canelo had the bad luck of being in dead weight classes. Other than GGG he had to pick from old famous boxers or young one dimensional boxers. When he beat Benavidez everyone will call him a one dimensional fighter and move on to the next guy he’s ducking.

If Canelo beats Benavidez and Beterbiev, then he will have achieved what his fans think he has already achieved.

But you give enough time to write out your pathetic passive aggressive beta males insults and be wound up about the fact you've been proved wrong.

Depends what you thought of his opposition to start with. 168 isn't the same division that it once was that was pretty obvious to me back in 2018 when Canelo moved up to beat Rocky Fielding. I'd say it's probably the weakest it's been since it's inception.

Callum Smith has always been a British hype job, never understood why people thought he was any good, I guess they saw his size and assumed he'd be a horrible match up for anyone, while ignoring he gives up his height and reach and fights like he's 5'10". I'm not sure he'd rank in the 10 top British supermiddleweight of all time, maybe not even top 15.

    Yilirim, who?

Saunders I think is his best win at 168, but that was a close fought fight prior to the stoppage.

Plant again was bang on ordinary would have never won a title in the era of Ward, Froch, Kessler etc. Not even as good as prime George Groves.

Ryder not even as good as Smith or Fielding as he lost to both. Fun fighter to watch but we all knew it was a mismatch.

I don't even rate Benavidez that highly, he seems to be the next creation to be hyped to supposedly give Canelo a challenge, but I really don't think he's that good. Better the Callum Smith, yes, better than Saunders? I'm not sure he'd beat the Saunders Canelo beat and even if he does it would be competitive.

Suffice to say Canelo right now is a champion of a pretty dire division right now. Not is fault but he isn't in the argument for being even close to being the best Super middleweight of all time.

Since I started this thread Mungia got KTFOed by pillow-fisted unknown opponent, Plant got his ass handed to him by a journeyman and Berlanga got completely annihilated by Sheeraz right after very unimpressive performance from Sheeraz in his last fight. Ouch...

Makes me even more confident that Crawford is going to light Canelo up in there and make him look like a degrading fighter

You think canelo will fight benny coming off a loss or go for a rematch with crawford?

in fairness, Sheeraz was starved half to death and broke his hand early on in the fight (the previous fight).

tonight was much more representative of Sheeraz.

    for whatever that’s worth.

He's about to cooked by a welterweight. It shouldn't tarnish his legacy in my opinion. A loss vs one of the greatest ever ain't a bad blemish. Props for even fighting crawford. But that's why he demanded 150 mill.

When Benevidez, Mbili and Morrell was available, Canelo picked Berlanga, Munguia and little Charlo. Now he’s fighting another guy moving up.

I take back what I said about Plant. He is just flashy. Not a whole lot of substance.

Canelo has been cherry picking since he got schooled by Bivol.
