The lightweight division can rest easy now that this serious threat has called it a day.

Good decision, there was nothing left to prove in the sport.

    Enjoy your retirement, champ.

Teofimo Lopez doesn't have to move to welterweight now.

Glad he realized boxing wasn't really his go. I'm sure he will make his fortune in his exciting new venture installing solar panels.

At least if he installs a dodgy boiler in my gaff I know I can probably take him.

Fair play to him. He was, for his level, tough and brave. It's a good decision. Doubt the money ahead was going to be worth the damage.

Smart. You need to understand your limitations.

Exactly. A wise decision under the circumstances. If he wants to work in boxing, there are other positions for which he might be more suited.

Lad had less than zero athletic talent.

A severe lack of self awareness on his part to get so far into a career before realising he was mugging himself off.

Willing to bet absolutely nobody on earth had "Ricky's in-ring boxing career extends longer than his son's" on their bingo card.

This is crazy to say but I was worried they were going to find some angle with him fighting his dad, so at least that (probably) cannot happen now.

Billy Conn went 10-6 in his first 16 fights

Campbell went 14-2 in his first 16

Conn would later go on to give Joe Louis one of his toughest fights
