I am very high on Mitchell, perhaps higher than most. However Arguello by comfortable 12/15 round decision with a possibility to stop Mitchell late.
Holy sh@@ .. great Matchup... seen a ton of Arguello, only a little of Mitchell.. so I'm not qualified to answer..BUT I was very impressed with Mitchell's movement in the pocket, counterpunching, and angles he created while landing.. I'll let the junkies hash it out here
I think PhillyPan just about summed it up. Mitchell would be competitive, but Arguello was a cut above and his class would tell over time. Or more specifically, his power would tell over him. Arguello by clear UD, or he gets Mitchell out of there late. Probably gets him out late.
Interesting match up. I think Mitchell was good enough to give Arguello a tough fight due to his clever counterpunching, defense, and fast combination on the inside. Arguello would be forced to fight at a fast pace and unleash his offense more frequently but I think it'll be to his advantage. His pinpoint accuracy could very well give Mitchell a lot of respect for his power and ultimately I see Arguello winning this by a competitive but clear decision.
I’m going Mitchell in the upset. Stylistically, he’s a far better version of Vilomar Fernandez or Bubba Busceme. Vilomar beat Alexis (albeit at 135, it was when AA was in his 130 prime and testing the waters) and Busceme gave Arguello problems until the Explosive Thin Man caught up with him. But I also thought Bobby Chacon was getting the better of Alexis at 130 before he got cut. Arguello appeared to be coming on, but I figure Mitchell is a more precise and defensively responsible fighter than the Schoolboy, and I see some similarities there in stature and approach (Mitchell being more reserved but equally quick and with better in-and-out rhythm). So gimme Brian by UD, although it’s close and probably debated. I figure in a three-fight series it’s one apiece and the third one is up for grabs.
Man I love Brian Mitchell but at some point in this fight Alexis is going to catch him. I see a very good fight with Mitchell having his moments but Alexis eventually stops Mitchell late in a great fight.
There's Olivares and Marcel at 126 too. I had Olivares up by a mile, and obviously Marcel won very clearly.
Close decision by Mitchell too I believe,I don't know what's Mitchell's kryptonites that Arguello possibly could have, yet there's so much wrongs that Mitchell's style could do to Arguello.
probably because he fought very weak competition other than Tony Lopez. BRIAN MITCHELL VS FRANKIE MITCHELL FULL FIGHT Here he is against Frankie Mitchell in defense of his IBF 130 lb. title. Frankie Mitchell is probably the second best opponent he fought. If I remember it was around a 116-112 decision win for Brian Mitchel.
