On the Tragic boxing stories site on Facebook, I believe I have a series of
stories about that tragic event in 1980.

The brother of welterweight champion Carlos Palomino was
killed in that tragedy. The California Boxing Hall of Fame
remembers and recognizes that tragedy. :good:happy

I was supposed to be on that flight as a light heavy. But I didn't want to go because Pat Nappi was supposed to be the coach. Let's just say he knew boxing politics but he definitely didn't know boxing. He ended up not going because of a family emergency but I didn't know that or I would have went on that trip. What a tragedy.

Neither did Marvis Frazier nor Bobby Czyz.

The plane was an Illushin 62, LOT flight 007. a turbine problem caused it. Anna Jantar, Polish singer, also died .
