What a fun debate. And very interesting takes by knowledgeable boxing fans. So here is my takes:

    1. Euesbio Pedroza- I just do not see it. You will never convince me of two things: that he beat Lockridge in the first fight and he should have lost by DQ vs Laporte. While Euesbio certainly has the skills to give Sanchez problems I think Sanchez is too strong and just as conditioned as Euesbio who would come on late in fights.
    2. Alexis Arguello- This is the one I disagree with. I think Alexis height and power are too much for Salvador to over come. Alexis also went to the body extremely well and his punches were thrown straight as an arrow. I think Sanchez would give him problems with his boxing skills and movement but Alexis had that one punch power to turn any fight in his favor.
    3. Julio Ceaser Chavez- Think this could go either way as early Chavez could box much better then many people give him credit for but I could see Sanchezs movement and speed gaining him a decision in a very close fight.
    4. Hector Camacho= speed demon out of a southpaw stance with a mean streak especially at Jr.lightweight. Sanchez has never faced speed like this and it would depend on how quickly Sanchez adapted to the speed. I could actually see Camacho winning a split decision over Sanchez.

It was no home town decision. I had Sanchez and Ford tied after 10 but Sanchez won rounds 11-15.

I had it even after 14, giving Sanchez the last round, just barely pulling it out.

Personally I think they all would have beaten him. Camacho having the least chance IMO

Did I write I thought it was a home decision? Or SOME thought.
I saw the fight too, and thought Sanchez pulled it out. But the fight was much closer than most thought it should've been, and comparing that to the way Pedroza took Ford apart in the very next fight.
It's the one of the reasons I believe Pedroza would've been a very difficult night for Sanchez.

I think Pedroza would have been a tough proposition for anyone at Featherweight at that time.

But you have to also realize that Patrick Ford had been "prepared",or set up for Pedroza by...Salvador Sanchez......had Ford first fought Pedroza instead of Sanchez, maybe we'd been talking about a former WBA world champion.

I dont give too much stock to head to head results, like I did as a kid cause..for example, Ricardo Mayprga beat Vernon Forrest twice, who beat Shane Mosley twice...who beat Ricardo Mayorga twice...

Agree. Head to head can be misleading.
But styles? Pedroza had the right style and physical advantages, including speed to seriously trouble Sanchez, or any super featherweight as you noted.

I agree that Pedroza could very well have beaten Sanchez. He’s got a style that would trouble him, even in the late rounds where he excelled. The reasoning some give in predicting a Pedroza victory is “well, Sanchez never fought a guy like Pedroza.”

True, but Pedroza never fought anyone like Sanchez either.

Camacho at 130 lbs because of his speed, say 1983.

Sanchez isn't beating Camacho at 130lbs IMO. Ironically he may have a better shot against JCC. Julio wasn't quite the force he would become at 135.

I like Sanchez over ETM. He's too dynamic for Alexis.

I like Sanchez to beat Pedroza on points. Too much speed and youth.
