I tentatively went with Floyd Patterson on the poll. But if Earnie batters him with that right hand he’s toast

Favor Patterson but the power of Shavers is an ever present threat. Shavers may do better trying to come out and immediately jump on Patterson.

Shavers though blessed with immense power isn't Sonny Liston, I can see Floyd just outboxing Earnie badly and stopping him around the 8th. It'd be a fight so dangerous for Floyd that his manager Cus would steer clear of it though.

Patterson and it becomes more likely with every second that passes in the fight.

Well as much as I love Patterson he was frequently reckless, his style was full of holes, it’d be unsurprising to see both FP beat the acorn into an L pretty quickly and for him to walk into something and be nuked out while ES’s engine is running hot for the first few rounds.

If Shavers catches Floyd I'm afraid he would kill him for real, Shavers punches harder than Liston/Ingo combined even tho he is not skillful, durable and didn't have good stamina.

The worst thing that could happen to Shavers is if he could run himself out the gas he'll lose by TKO.

The worst thing for Floyd to taste of what happened to Ellis, and be killed for real by Shavers.

Floyd is by FAR the superior boxer--but Shavers had TNT in that right hand! All he has to do is connect one time!!

Ultimately, I think Shavers would land one big bomb and that would be it--he KO's Patterson in 7-8 rounds.

He also had a pretty good left hook. That hook almost put Lyle down for the count and probably would have had it been early in the round instead of the end of the round. That left hook landing could cause bad things to happen to Patterson.

Lottery. Shavers loved a good uppercut, and man that's dangerous for Floyd. Floyd could easily get in first too, and Quarry him. Or he could wear him down for a bit. Or he could get caught. Heck, he might even get floored and still win by KO.
