Apparently Turki Al al shake likes this. More entertaining than Parker, in my opinion. More interesting.
He's not wrong to think it might be entertaining though. In a promoter's eyes it's never too early is it? Probably bad matchmaking and not sensible, patient management but the Saudis don't really care about that.
Matchmaking is something the Saudis don't care about. That's why they're announcing AJ vs. Jake Paul soon. A huge mismatch but it's going to generate large sums of money.
Its as always also up to the managers of fighters to guide them. If Ituama gets another decent win and thrown a huge sum of money it can happen, should it this stage of his career? Another story for me.
Yep, AJ v Paul would dwarf Usyk v Parker or kabayel in terms of financial gain for the promoters and saudis. Boxing going in a weird direction currently.
I think its the fact we're in a transition period with a few guys only having 1 or 2 fights left in them. Cash is king. It is a weird time when you have fighters like Dubois, Parker and Kabayel genuinely wanting to fight for belts against the best and then AJ, Fury and Usyk entertaining mega money fights that do little to enhance the Rankings.
It's a win win for everyone IMO. For Usyk, it may be easy big money, but also there isn't any other challengers out there, so beating the best of 'the next generation' makes him even greater, and also if Itauma goes on to do great things, it will add to Usyk's resume when retired, similar to Floyd getting Canelo early. For Itauma, there is no pressure, everyone will be saying Usyk will win and it's too early, so if he loses it won't damage his reputation, and also why not fight him, Usyk will be gone soon and when Itauma is in his prime in a few years and 'ready' he won't get to test himself against the great Usyk as he will be retired, so why not jump in now. For the fans, it will be a good fight, Itauma will give it a go, not like Parker who is just happy to be there and happy to survive like he did against AJ.
The refs and judges were horrendous in AJ vs Parker, AJ was allowed to constantly hold and even given so the fight was a hell of a lot closer than what the judges had.
regardless, the rest of my point still stands, it's only Parker as the other option, right now i would rather see Itauma fight Usyk instead of Parker.
yup, such a myth that the ref stopped him, he had 36 minutes to take a risk and never did, even if the ref wasn’t great, he had 36 minutes and never went for it.
