Which isn’t saying much considering his opponents were AJ, Dubois and post-Wilder Fury. Ali hurt Foreman.
Ali hurt a dehydrated guy who was the same size as him by landing a bunch of flush right hands because GF couldn’t move his head? I’m not impressed lol - Usyk is hurting guys who are 250lbs+ one of them he just beat into submission.
In the 70s? Ali a 216lbs guy not famous for his punch… then he was almost KO’d by a very straight up and down Ron Lyle then he got the S beaten out of him by Jimmy Young and rocked numerous times, in the 70s his chin was hardly special… You don’t get to combine Young Foreman and Old Foreman when they were basically two different fighters… one was a dehydrated 215-220lbs fighter who was visibly hurt numerous times, the other had an extremely good defence, learnt to roll with shots and was 250lbs-260lbs and likely on PED’s. Get over it “B-but how many times was G-George KO’’d ONCE” - McVey 5mins from now ignoring the facts.
Wow I really called that didn’t I? It’s a real shame you can’t see past the stats and quotes, boxing is pretty awesome. I don’t know if the film even takes into account for you sometimes.
Old Foreman had a top tier chin. No idea why his younger incarnation didn't. Dehydration really did that?
I think Old Foreman learnt to get hit, like Ali learnt to get hit, Cooper hurt Ali with a shot he didn’t see but later he was basically rock solid… Foreman developed good eyes, learnt to roll the shot and tuck his chin, usually he front marched his way to his opponent square shouldered with his head just kinda there… yeah I’d say being dehydrated ain’t good for your chin, I don’t think anyone would disagree with that.
Usyk is a solid puncher, but doesn't seem to have that concussive heavyweight power you need to stop Frazier. I could see Mike Tyson doing it, Lennox Lewis or even a Razor Ruddock type. Usyk seems to be a Holyfield tier puncher. A solid heavyweight punch that does damage, but not ATG power.
If there is bad medicine for Usyk, the swarming, relentless Frazier is one of a few past ATGs who would qualify as the prescription. Frazier was only ever KO’d by the one fighter - huge punching George Foreman - now he’s “chinny” Joe? Wow. Likewise, Foreman, only ever KO’d once by the one fighter - Ali, who just so happens to be the GOAT in many people’s eyes. But now George is also “chinny”? Wow. I guess Bonavena was “chinny” also OR, if not “chinny”, simply fell from exhaustion against an equally exhausted Ali? Never mind that he he was floored by an ATG left hook (this, the untainted eyes can see) or the beautiful shorter hook that just preceded the KD punch. The overriding perception of that KO was power, not exhaustion. Rusty Foreman dropped (but not KO’d) by fellow power puncher and 220 lbs Ron Lyle (though 210 lbs Lyle sounds sooo much better, doesn’t it) - yes, yet more “evidence” that Foreman’s chin was crystal. Tinkle, tinkle. The cherry on top is to disingenuously proffer the 12th round KD of Foreman by Young as Foreman being literally hurt - NO, Foreman was exhausted, barely able to hold his own feet anyway. I’m not going to try to falsely denigrate Usyk in kind - great fighter, great chin but he has been hurt on several occasions - but obviously that isn’t part of the preferred equation for some.
Love Frazier but he lacked the southpaw killing fight, and Usyk has demonstrated matching his great pace.
I think Usyk's movement and jab would just be to much for Frazier and Usyk can fight his fight much easier with his massive size and reach advantage.
