What is your evidence? Lerena not connecting and Dubois going down 3x with an ACL? Quitting after taking 100 jabs from Joyce? Jumping on the ground after Usyk connected with a jab? Even in Usyk Dubois 2, he was up at the count of 10 after he got hit with a KO blow from a shot he didn't see coming. Glass chins exist. Amir Khan, David Price, Audley Harrison, I could go on. But EACH ONE has a highlight reel montage of them plastered on the ground gasping for air. You're absolutely and utterly delusional if you think a lack of heart or a lack of defense is the same thing as a glass chin.
Dubois was definitely unconscious for a few moments. I was shocked he was up at 10. His corner should have thrown in the towel earlier to save him from this kind of conversation because he would have been Ngannou'd had he gotten up.
Usyk hits harder than most people think, but Dubois' chin is definitely very dodgy. The first solid left hand Usyk landed had Dubois shook. Never seen anyone react this poorly to Usyk's power. Just how pillow fisted is Filip Hrgovic?
The chin is pure glass but he straight up quit in each one of his defeats. There are plenty of glass chinned fighters past or present who would rather go out on their shield. Even Wilder to his credit would never quit like Dubois has in all 3 of his losses.
He knew his china chin was letting him down - again - and he wanted to avoid the long canvas nap. Either way that glass jaw got SHATTERED people!!!
Hes the only man Usyk has stopped at heavyweight, and now so twice. Dubois is a class cannon. Granted, it´s some sturdy glass, like the bottom of a beer bottle, but at the end of the day it´s glass. His punching power is world class, but his chin is not. 21 wins, 20 of them via KO. 3 losses, all of them via KO - the best example of a glass cannon. Yes, Usyk holds a TKO win over Chazz Whitersomethingsomething, but that dude quit because he was a fatass. At no point did he look hurt.
I don't understand how Dubois' continuously took Hrgovic's right hand bombs? Usyk definitely punches harder than people give him credit for. Dubois doesn't have the best chin, but his lack of heart is far more of a problem.
Oh my. If Usyk was able to shatter that jaw, I dread to think what would happen when Big Bang lands. And he would land early, no doubt about it.
It seems that he has a glass jaw, but I think it's more a case of him being kind of stupid. When he gets hurt, he becomes confused and disorientated and doesn't know what to do. He reacted after the first knockdown by throwing a haymaker at Usyk, which missed and left him open for Usyk's perfect KO punch. If he were smarter, he would have been cautious and survived.
There is no question that some glass jawed fighters, like Wilder for example, show a lot of heart before they take their inevitable canvas naps - while others, like Dubois, fold as soon as they feel their mandibles start to crack. Different responses to poor punch resistance will always be part of boxing, but the common denominator, and central causal factor, is the glass jaw!
In my opinion, Dubois's problem isn't his jaw, but his mind and the fact that he doesn't have a plan B. If the fight doesn't go his way, DDD will give up, which is how he lost to Joyce and Usyk (in the first match). After a jab, he went down on his knees, demoralized and no longer willing to continue. On Saturday, he wasn't knocked down by a jab, but by a great counter shot from Usyk, but this time too, he gave me the impression he'd had enough.
Hrgovic is an arm puncher. He rarely ever puts full weight behind his right hand. There is snap to his punch, but little weight - thats why he is able to stop lower tier guys with relative ease. Hes also relatively fast.
