Usyk will be destroyed at hw. You’re a joke if you think otherwise

I was in the other camp. It was clear to me that size would not be an issue, and there were many others who held this belief. The rest simply refused to acknowledge Usyk´s WSB heavyweight fights.

This thread was from 10/11/2008 which is the day Usyk sent Bellew to the shadow realm, so he was still a year away from his HW debut at the time and the general consensus back then, years prior to then, and for a few years after right up until he actually did it, was that Usyk would never even win 1 belt at HW because he was incapable of beating these giants who were just too big and powerful for him.

Well he not only won a belt at HW he became undisputed, dominated the division, and became the greatest HW of the generation all in his opponent's backyards on a deck stacked against him or on the road and whilst in his mid to late 30s vs much or younger opponents

We know how few gave him a chance but so many those who didn't are now trying to discredit him and the state of the division, as if the words which came out of their mouths were spoken by someone else. FTR, I'm not alluding to those who did so but have subsequently given him his flowers

And as for those who have arrived on the scene or ALTS who have suddenly appeared trying to discredit Usyk and trash the division after he proved the world wrong, well they don't get taken remotely seriously because the likelihood of them belonging to that group of disbelievers and Usynics who completely wrote off Usyk's chances and were so sure he was destined to fail and would get knocked out by these giants is extremely high

So unless they have some kind of record of their predictions from back then we can be very confident indeed they were whistling a very different tune to the one they're whistling now

To be fair Usyk has struggled more with the size of these guys than their skills. If Fury and AJ were both his size he'd have knocked them the F out and send them to the doc's room. I've always thought that the best possible version of Fury might beat Usyk, because Fury combines huge size with some real skills. Of course, he's also a lazy SOB which is why Usyk spanked him 'propa'.

They're all fast for their size, athletic, coordinated, and skilled giants though not slug slow crude Frankenstein's monsters SHW giants of some previous eras

And the Usyk who fought them was older or much older than them and past his prime not the razor sharp fast mongoose reflexes and reaction times prime Usyk

He's still quicker than them all but they're quick enough to land with their big shots on anyone and they caught him with huge shots too and if he wasn't such a defensive master and wasn't blessed with a iron chin he would've come unstuck. Prime Usyk was considerably faster and he would've dealt with them a lot easier or even easier

the WSB fights should have ended this discussion back then. Usyk had ALREADY proved he could fight much bigger men under pro rules and pass the eye test while doing it. He lost what, 1 round across 5 fights? Add in all his CW experience and suddenly he’d be less competitive? Between his WSB run and his CW career, should have been obvious he was going to be a real problem for the HW division.

I thought Usyk's fight with Nistor was closer than what the judges had it.

I had it 2-2 going into the 5th round with Usyk needing the last round to pull out the win.

Nistor cut Usyk and visibly hurt him in the 3rd round I gave Nistor rounds 3 and 4 that was a tough fight for Usyk.
