So, over the next three years, Dubois could literally: * knock out Anthony Joshua even faster in their rematch, * knock out Tyson Fury, * knock out Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch, * knock out Zhang in a shootout, * knock out Parker In addition to Dubois having already dropped Joshua five times and knocked him out ... in addition to having obliterated Hrgovic before that ... And Joshua could lose all his fights over the next three years ... And you'd still have Joshua #1 in your ratings because Joshua beat Charles Martin, Carlos Takam, and outpointed Andy Ruiz in the 2010s, so he has more wins over guys who were rated at the time? Yeah, no. Good Lord.
It's not a ranking of who is better. This is literally explained at the start of the OP. It just shows which fighters are taking on top 10 opponents. The list of top 5 opponents might make you happier where Usyk, Fury, and Joshua are all tied on 4 a piece.
Updated 2025/02/23: Parker stops Bakole; Kabayel stops Zhang Parker moves up to #4 Kabayel moves up to #7
McCall has fought twice this year, so definitely needs to be on the main list! Interesting that Fury would still be #2 if he got the deserved result in Wilder 1, but then again maybe he doesn’t have a trilogy in that case. Thanks for the update.
I think it’s an interesting exercise, and I’m glad he’s doing it. Nobody is arguing that AJ is #1 at the moment. However, it is true to say that of the currently active heavyweights, Joshua has the most wins against people who were ranked in the top 10 at the time of the fight.
Well yeah, they're listing guys who have victories over consensus top ten opposition. If AJ has done that more than anyone else of course hell sit atop the list. Alliw me to simplify the concept for you. I decide im listing all heavyweight title holders by duration as title holder. The year is 2017. Wladimir would still be top of my list despite losing to both Fury and AJ who will.never overtake him unless they hold their titles as long as he held his.
In what world would you have the first undisputed world champ since Lennox Lewis rated behind the guy he beat twice?
Because it is a list of how many top 10 fighters everyone has faced, and not who is the better fighter... There is a list just below it looking at top 5 wins: Usyk is now top with 5.
Haha, I'll add him to 19. I watched one of his fights the other month. Got a stoppage! True about Fury. I assume Wilder was signed up for an immediate rematch if that were the case. It is interesting to think how the division would have played out. Maybe we would have got Fury v Joshua for Undisputed instead of the third Wilder fight.
