Usyk would put Roy in the hospital

That being said, Usyk has never faced someone faster than himself so the fight would be interesting for a few rounds

I like Roy but he doesn't beat Usyk.

It's a good reply while showing due respect. Would Jones have gone up to heavy in '03 if Usyk was guarding all the belts? I'm leaning towards no.

It's a rightfully confident reply while showing due respect. However, would Jones have gone up to heavy in '03 if Usyk was guarding all the belts? I'm leaning towards no.

Nah, but they really shouldn’t be asking him that. He wasn’t really a HW. Would you ask Floyd or Oscar if they could beat Usyk?

He beat John Ruiz but he wisely never fought Lennox Lewis, and would be wise enough not to fight Usyk either.

Lol :D I’m DEFINITELY leaning no as well. If memory serves me right… wasn’t Corrie Sanders next in line for a shot at the WBA had roy not vacated?? Something tells me that sped up roy’s decision to get outta dodge and back down to 175 too.

Talk about a ‘Walk Off’!!:lol:

Watched it back five times now. :D Something really satisfying about that one. Can’t really put a finger on it.

'Lewis is the best of the bigger heavies.' Pretty sure that's what Roy said back in the day. As for Usyk, for all the talk of him coming up from cruiser, he is, as Fury commented in the build-up to fight one, a solid, average-sized heavy. Not a small guy. Roy - brilliant as he was - would have known this.

    Usyk turns RJJ inside out.

Simply: he is too skilled in too big and fast a package.

Jones found success when he had a big speed and skill edge over his heavier opponents. Ruiz in particular was simply too slow and low output, with plodding feet, to compete with Jones.

I'll give RJJ his props for going to heavy and picking up a belt, but no ways does he manage to execute the same gameplan against Usyk. As CooperKupp reminded us: RJJ's management lined up a fight with Corrie Sanders, and Roy hit the brakes so hard on that, he shredded the tyres. There's no way little Jones fights a heavyweight who is fast enough to land on him and comes out vertical.

Maybe RJJ means if he and Usyk were the same size. That would be another argument.

Usyk is a southpaw. I don't think Roy makes it 12.
