Luis Ortiz was the WBA interim champ at HW.

Pulev would outbox him, Ortiz is more skilled but Pulev had a fantastic jab

Who has even watched enough of Pulev to make an educated guess? I have a hard time recalling much of Louis unless I rewatch him, nobody is building a credible argument for a guy I don’t think anyone has ever liked watching lol.

They didn't have film when Ortiz was prime. Best we can do is decipher the heiroglyphics at the temple at Luxor. The Egyptians seemed to think he was a bit of a beast back then.

Pulev was impressive leading into the Wlad fight. Scoring consecutive wins over Dimitrenko, Ustinov and a still serviceable Thompson. He also beat the underrated Rossy. Wlad ruined Pulev.

Ortiz had a real good win over Jennings and clearly had skills.
I’ll go with Pulev on points in a tactical battle.

50/50 fight, but I would take Pulev. More proven.

Pulev was incredibly confident going into the Wlad fight. He seemed convinced that not only could he outjab him, but also rough him up in the clinches. I enjoyed Pulev in that one. He really tried to make a war out of it and drew out the beast in Wlad.

Ortiz would win this. Probably by stoppage. Pulev is terrible.

I feel sometimes Ortiz's reputation is collateral damage for people making fun of Wilder. He was a really good fighter. Whose to say he wasn't the best in the world in 2016?

Because he never proved it. Wilder struggled with fringe contenders and joruneyman. Ortiz should have dispatched him like Parker did. But he lost twice. Wilder wasn't prime but Parker likely beats any version of Wilder. Ortiz best performances is Jennings, he was outboxing Ruiz outside of the KDs so there's that

If this fight happened a year ago or two years ago or three, it wouldn't have been memorable enough to remember even now - and if you told me the result, even though I can't remember them fighting, I wouldn't have disputed it because I'd figure I just forgot something very forgettable. And it's not interesting or important enough for me to go on boxrec for a few seconds to check.

Basically 12 round decision, someone. Unanimous, majority or split.

Even though Pulev was a better boxer im still inclined to favoring Ortiz. Luis had a pretty solid chin and Pulev didn’t have much power to deter him with. That and Ortiz had immense power in both hands.
