I’m not quite sure how Patterson would approach this one. Would he chase down Conn as Louis did? Or would he try to outbox him ? Not totally decided on how this plays out or the outcome. I’m going to take a chance on guessing that it goes the distance with one of them winning a close decision. The outcome may depend largely on who’s judging, who pushes the action, who’s busier etc.

Great fight. However, i don't see Conn having enough power to keep Patterson off him. Patterson also has very very quick hands. I think it will be competitive but Patterson's superior power will allow him to land the bigger punches and win a competitive decision.

Floyd hits way harder than Conn and is way quicker. Decision win or late KO for Floyd.

Floyd Patterson would win, by decision probably, but a late stoppage would not surprise me.

Moore contended that Conn ducked him. So can we assume Moore could beat Conn and we know how Patterson wrecked Moore. So we d have to figure Patterson can beat Conn.

Patterson had too much twitch and was a better, less wide open boxer. If you had the physical tools, you could break down the front door but without those physical tools he was a much harder nut to crack.

I'd go with Patterson in this matchup. Floyd would have 15lbs minimum on Conn and is a much more powerful puncher with quick hands--Stoppage in 10-12 rounds.

I'd go with Conn at the light-heavyweight limit. He was comfortable at that weight and his frame was built for it and, though still quite young, he had had far more professional experience than Patterson had as a light heavyweight. I'd go with Patterson as a heavyweight because 190 was his best weight, he was more experienced by that time, and Conn was never really a heavyweight unless you count his post- WWII career when he was past his prime and had been fattened up by army rations and the ring inactivity brought on by the war. Conn beat quite a few heavyweights before the first Louis fight, but they were not nearly as good as Patterson was in his prime.

Short answer: When Conn was at his best weight, Floyd would have been too small and inexperienced; when Floyd was at his best weight, Billy would have too small and past his prime.

Patterson wins a competitive decision. He matches Conn's speed and hits harder.
