Leon Spinks, George Kambosos and Carlos Baldomir were special ?

He really lost to Catterall. He beat 3 undefeated champs in a weak division. Very good pro. Not special. Similar to Haney and Charlo

They were only the top 2 because it was a weak division at the time.

There was no Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, Subriel Matias, Puello, etc etc

I knew Josh Taylor wasn't all that when..

He mouthed off to Teofimo Lopez leading up to the bout. Acted like a crazy man in pre fight interviews and
in the weigh in. Acted like an off the leash bully.

Then Lopez beat him up like an unwanted step child.

I knew Josh Taylor wasn't all that when..

He lost to a pitty patter awful boxer named Catterall then when he got the unfair decision bragged about beating up
Catterall. When the rematch occurred he lost to an opponent who HATES to throw punches.

He's a never was, not an big deal. Maybe in a small market like Scotland he's a big deal but in the grand scheme of boxing history
a 19-3 boxer who lost most of his fights to decent opposition.

That build up to that fight was crazy

Teofimo Lopez had said that he wanted to take Josh Taylors life

Well that was rude but Taylor's rankings were way over the top. Then he fought like a scared rabbit. Had he fought like hell and went out on his shield I'd have given him props but he didn't.

    :dunno

Do you think Regis Prograis, as of when he fought TTT, wasn't a very good fighter?

They were both elite when they met, and they shortened each other's primes significantly. Neither has been "all that" since.

No I don't think Regis was ever elite

HOF bar is pretty low, there are fighters in there who achieved far less than Taylor who are in there, but objectively on paper, four belt unified champions, especially those who travelled overseas to do it, definitely have a HOF spot. Charlo also deserves it. I wouldn't rate either of them at the top of their division P4P on an ATH list, but purely based on achievements, I'd 100% have him in there. His steep learning curve and fighting style meant that he had a very short prime, but purely based on his achievements, I don't see how he shouldn't be HOF if the likes of Ricky Hatton made it in there.

What he achieved on paper was impressive but personally I never saw the hype. His skill set just didn't impress me. Yeah he was in some really good fights like the fight with Prograis, but being entertaining isn't the same as being skilled.

He didn't know how to use his height and reach and was basically ineffective on the outside, hence why he would give up his height and fight opponents on the inside or mid range and instead used his size to manhandle smaller opponents, which he was really effective at. He wasn't terrible and clearly a very good fighter, I liked how he could slip and throw a counter, that was his most impressive skill in my opinion. But he simply didn't have a complete enough skillset to really ever be considered a top 5 P4P fighter like he was at his peak.

Prograis too was another fighter I thought was really overrated. Yes he had speed and power but other than that his skills were nothing remarkable. Foot work not great, defence very average, didn't know how to counter punch because like many fighters with quick hands he got away with just knowing how to beat opponents to the punch so never bothered to learn how to counter.

Reality was the division was weak, you only have to see how Lopez and Haney came up and schooled them both to show the vast gap between the talent in those 2 divisions. But people will say they both just got old around the same time when both faced opponents who were proven quantities at a deeper division, bit of a coincidence that, but people will do mental gymnastics to fit their opinions rather than admit their initial assessment was wrong.

I'm not sure how anybody can look at Taylor's and Prograis' form before they fought each other (and during their match) and not realize it's night & day from after. :nusenuse:

They walked out half the fighters they went in.

Spence is soft chinned PBC hype job who forged a career cleaning out 147 of its career 140 pounders and featherfists, who only defended his title (s) once in his entire six year reign vs a career 147 pounder world champion, only fought 2 career 147 world champions in his entire career and struggled badly against both, and who barely fought any legit punchers, especially ones his size

Taylor beat up two of Spence's best wins in the gym in Porter and Ugas when he was a 7-0 prospect

When you say Spence is better than Taylor do you mean better against 140 pounders and featherfists?

2 trips to the kerb Spence is not Crawford's best win at all, not even his 2nd best win, his best win was undefeated PRIME Viktor Postol.

There is not a time ever where Puello, Matias and probably even Haney beat either Prime Taylor or Prime Prograis. Teo could.
